Well, I finally decided to join after getting several invitations when TK banned me. I mean, it's not as if the appeal process actually works, so I'm not terribly worried about joining here with my CP user name.

For those who missed my... 15 hours of being not-banned on CP (most of which I spent sleeping), I was User:RonyB on CP. Joined "16:01, 21 February 2009", banned "07:02, 22 February 2009".

I tried to help out a bit with CP's articles about Egyptian mythology (something I'm idly interested in)... and then I made the mistake of daring to suggest something on the (apparently still deleted) "Implications" talk page. I think it was something about choosing an example CP wasn't so obviously biased against. I dunno anymore.

Since TK also blocked my mail, I was forced to skip straight to the last Block Appeal step: Send a mail straight to CPWebmaster. I did that a week ago, and so far, I didn't even get a "I'll look into this" reply, so I have to assume that CPWebmaster is siding with TK or that he simply doesn't give a damn.

Of course, during my week away from CP, I had a chance of witnessing that my ban was just the tip of the iceberg. TK went on an all-out killing spree, banning people with a way bigger track record than I had for reasons that seem to contradict their "Differences with WP" page, especially the "We won't stalk our users" one. But hey, he also doesn't care about the Privacy Policy, so I'm not terribly surprised.

For shits and giggles, I'll paste my mail to CPWebmaster (with some formatting changed for the wiki markup) below. Like I said, I never got a reply, so yeah, whatever. A site that dishes out perma-bans for the tiniest comment and doesn't care about driving away people with good intentions deserves all the parody and mockery it gets.

Mail: "Sudden ban, mail disabled"[edit]

  • From: [my address omitted because I don't post it in public anywhere]
  • To: cpwebmaster@conservapedia.com [not omitted because it's posted on CP already]

Just now, TK banned me for five years and disabled my mail function, so this is apparently my last shot at appealing this ban (as per "Conservapedia:Contributor's guide" at least - which I had trouble finding because TK had also deleted my talk page).

My user name is RonyB (You can verify this - I used the same address to sign up to Conservapedia), and I joined yesterday.

I started off expanding the Egyptian Mythology section a bit, editing a few existing articles ("Horus", "Egyptian mythology‎") and starting a few new ones ("Hathor", "Ra-Horakhti‎" and the categories "Egyptian Mythology‎" and "Egyptian Deities‎").

I also made minor edits and some talk page edits.

No I wake up and realize that TK:

  1. deleted my Hathor article with the reason "Vandalism / parody"
  2. deleted my user talk page
  3. deleted the article "Implications" and its talk page, then later restored both
  4. banned me for five years, exposing my IP address
  5. banned the 8192 IPs around me
  6. asked WesleyS whether or not to delete the categories

Now let's review a few facts and details:

  1. The Hathor article was 100% factual, based on web sources and Manfred Lurker's "The Routledge Dictionary of Gods, Goddesses, Devils & Demons".
  2. My talk page contained nothing offensive or mean. In fact, (to my knowledge) there had only been two edits: One by FJohn to welcome me and one by me to thank him.
  3. The "Implications" article had been written by Ed Poor. I had made an edit to the talk page to question the choice of the example. I think that had been my riskiest edit because it questions the wisdom of someone who was "selected as needed from the best of the best contributors" (as per Conservapedia:Administrators), but it should have been WELL within the acceptable bounds.
  4. There was no warning, no question, no discussion, no nothing before my ban. TK also included my IP address in the ban message, violating the Privacy Policy of your site: "Conservapedia does not sell or share any information about users, except as necessary to report obscenity or vandalism to authorities."
  5. Why he banned the 8000+ IPs in my block is absolutely beyond me.
  6. Since he banned me without question or discussion, TK now has to discuss MY categorization with someone else. For the log, I created those categories using the Greek counterparts as a guideline. They were not heavily populated, but it had been my goal to expand them over time.

I must sadly conclude for now that all the bad things I read about Conservapedia are true. Facts are declared vandalism, and people are banned for questioning The Elite.

Any chance of me being unbanned? Or does TK indeed decide what is true and what is false on Conservapedia? If so, I will join the large crowd of people who warn others not to trust Conservapedia. I have already invitations to join a site created by people like me, who were banned from Conservapedia simply because they dared to contradict The Elite.

Rony B. (What, you honestly expected me to give you my last name now that a representative of your site has shown that it's a mistake to trust Conservapedia with personal info? Ha!)
