User:Sparky/Essay: Homosexuality's Bullshit Opposition

Homosexuality. That topic that makes fundies froth at the mouth. People that *gasp* are attracted to those of their own gender! How evil! They obviously want to take our children in inhuman bondage! [1] But anyway, I want to call out both the Bible and the fundies on their crap. Let's begin, shall we?
The Bible says homosexuality is wrong, therefore it is a sin. Let's discuss sin. Something designated a "sin" by man would not be designated a sin by God, and therefore could be done without any consequences. Therefore, one would assume that God made homosexuality a sin. Now, there is no apparent reason why a loving God would do such a thing, except for trolling us.
Now, I have noticed various Christians (too lazy to find links at the moment) saying that God designated being gay a sin to protect us from the various bad points of being gay. Let's take a look at these by starting with "Homosexuals have more frequent suicides, substance abuse, etc" argument. It could be noted that this would come largely from the homophobia surrounding those of this particular sexual orientation (browsing FSTDT, I noticed horrid amounts of quotes condemning gays; one quote came, if I recall correctly, from a mother who disowned her daughter for daring to come out of the closet). Considering this argument, it would seem that the Christian God made being gay a sin, so as to protect those gays who would otherwise likely have poor mental health because of the hate heaped on them because of the law that he set up.
