Essentially this is a piece of crap written by armchair generals. Apparently you would have the US air force consist of planes that are not even capable of catching up to the enemy before they fly back into the cover of their own anti air defenses (which would probably have radars 30 years newer than your non-existent stealth) -- (talk) 11:10, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

Yup, armchair generals. Not at all written by engineers or the like. Let me put it this way, I don't give a shit about the strategic viability of the F-35. Not one bit. But, as an AS-9100 certified engineer who has worked on both this and the F-22, I find funding projects like this to be unethical simply from a technological and cost-benefit analysis standpoint.
