2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!
Donations so far: $9223.37Goal: $10000

October 2007[edit]

  • Andy is the ultimate authoritive reference.
  • Yup, that's us, alright. Second time lucky.
  • Andy asserts that he - alone in the all the world - has uncovered evidence that Richard Dawkins is not a real professor, and is unrecognized by Oxford University. There follows a thirteen day edit war and an even longer discussion, during which at least nine separate editors (including Ed Poor and Roger Schlafly) contradict Andy's assertion, point out its libelous content, and provide a detailed history of the appointments process at Oxford University, repeatedly listing each factual error in turn and providing confirmatory evidence from the University of Oxford official Calendar, the University of Oxford official Gazette, the University of Oxford Distinctions Committee, the University of Oxford General Board, the University of Oxford Congregation, and the University of Oxford Council, as well as the Merriam-Webster dictionary, the Oxford English Dictionary, and the University's own Vice Chancellor. Andy reviews the arguments and pronounces that "no specific errors have been identified."
  • Truer words have never been spake.
