This essay is under construction.

A few concerns have been raised that I am not a gay but a liar and a homophobic hypocrite. My views are sometimes really confusing; I don't even myself alyways know what I think. I actually feel that I need to speak up against everyone. To make my point more clearly, and maybe to understand myself more clearly, I decided to write this.

My story of being gay[edit]

Omitted.

What I think of homosexuality[edit]

There are some points that we'll all probably agree on:

Homosexuality is not a choice

There is,actually, a good reason to believe that gays are not born to be gays. If homosexuality were genetically predetermined, then identical twins would virtually always have the same sexual orientation. But study results are different; actually, one major study’s analysis of data from the Australian twins registry found that if one male identical twin is homosexual, then there was only an 11 per cent chance that the other is too. (Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 78, 524-536. ) Other studies show higher results, but only a few one show that this per cent is higher than 50 %. It indicates that genes are involved, but are certainly not the only factor. As The Royal College of Psychiatrists states "Sexual orientation probably is not determined by any one factor but by a combination of genetic, hormonal, and environmental influences."

But, all in all, it doesn't matter (even if homosexuality is fully determined by environment), because I have never "planned" to become a homosexual, I can not determine who I am. But that's who I am, and I like myself the way I am, and I do not harm anyone with this. Therefore,

Homosexuality and homosexual acts should not be prohibited

It causes more harm than any good.

Homosexuals should not be discriminated

In sense that a homosexual should not lose his/hers job just because she was a homosexual.

In issues such like marriage and parenting, I can say honestly, that I wish them to be legal, but I am also awfully uncertain. Many pro-life sites that I visit have taken a position on gay marriage (and I don't visit only "Pro-Life Alliance of Gays and Lesbians"), and I think they have a point - not always, though. I hope I have time to explain more, and also give an overview of what has influenced me (other than Paulo Coelho).
