A lot of this is copy/pasted from my original post on the Debate category. Go here to check it out and see what's changed, but make all your comments here, please. Perceptron (talk) 19:44, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Your distinction between type one and two theists is interesting. The majority of the world's theists are pretty obviously type two, yet if you ask them with type they belong in they will often say type one. It just so happens that, after a long and arduous spiritual journey, they made the outstandingly happy discovery that the religion they grew up in coincidently happened to be correct one.--BobSpring is sprung! 21:17, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, well that's cognitive dissonance for you. Everybody who isn't depressed thinks that they're a good person. Good people have good beliefs i.e correct ones. If someone were to show that they're beliefs were incorrect, well that either means that they're a bad person or that the other person is incorrect. One of those options require the strenuous task of re-evaluating one's life and admitting one's imperfection and the other option requires a hearty "Fuck off", it shouldn't be hard to see what most people choose. I might add in something about how to tell the difference. Perceptron (talk) 21:58, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
