2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.
We are 100% user-supported! Help and donate $5, $10, $20 or whatever you can today with PayPal Logo.png!

Evaluation of the innately subjective[edit]

The ultimate question of whether intentional irony in pursuit of making a point, that is thus stated without qualification, in spite of the reality of needing qualifications succeeds at a greater point than the naive one it plays at. Does it, to state as a simple, factual truth, that which could not be further in nature from fact, neither antithetical, nor of-the-form can, in itself lend credence to the claim? Does the irony, and the awareness of the very ludicrousness itself, bare a kind of testimonial of truth? As if to say, "I know I lie, so I must understand the truth." It's impossible to be certain, in much the same way it's impossible to be certain of the objective value of subjective, artistic creations.
