Ummm.... this is not fair use. - Icewedge (*bleet*) 02:33, 7 September 2008 (EDT)

Doesn't use of one page for purposes of criticism, analysis or satire come under fair use? I think I read that in MAD magazine, back in the day. Totnesmartin 04:22, 7 September 2008 (EDT)
It would if we were criticizing, satirizing, or analyzing the cartoon ourself but just because a work is a parody does not mean any one can just redistribute it. Its like our side by side articles, we are allowed to copy paste content from elsewhere because we then use that content to refute the argument it presents, that is fair use, it would not be fair use for another website just too come along and take our side by side article and republish (assuming RW was copyright all rights reserved, which it is not). - Icewedge (*bleet*) 13:29, 7 September 2008 (EDT)
We are criticizing, satirizing, and analyzing the cartoon. It is a parody of the Chrome comic comparing it to a Jack Chick tract. Add to that our not for profit status, educational basis, and the limited material that is copied and I would give us pretty high odds in any fair use case. tmtoulouse vex 13:35, 7 September 2008 (EDT)
I agree with Trent. But *sigh* ...It's just saddening. Before Ames left for his blog, he would've been the one to say that. And now he isn't around to say it anymore! Star of David.png Radioactive afikomen Please ignore all my awful pre-2014 comments. 22:40, 7 September 2008 (EDT)
Ice is right, we should either delete this -- or get permission. In my experience, non-syndicated cartoonists are usually very friendly to requests for permission to use their work in certain specific ways. However, wasn't this just on a talk page? Anyway, ASK. If use is denied, delete. If permitted, annotate as such. ħumanUser talk:Human 23:16, 7 September 2008 (EDT)

"No pages link to Image:GoogleChrome-ChickTract.jpg." -- did it get deleted? The question is, where are we using it, and how. And, again, what are the odds that the "author" will let us use it - or has to? If it's a ripoff of the Google Chrome comic book, wasn't that GFDL to start with> Hence, our copyright use is not "fair use", it would be GFDL? Anyone know what license google released their comic book under? ħumanUser talk:Human 23:28, 7 September 2008 (EDT)
