Oddly enough, the coin may be from Spanish America, i.e. anywhere south of the US. Might take a bit of research. Aboriginal Noise with 4 M's and a silent Q 02:29, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I never would have thought Australia. Might want to scan the other side of the coin as well to make sure. Aboriginal Noise with 4 M's and a silent Q 02:44, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
[1] This is a very beat up version of the coin. My copy has little, if any, wear 'n tear--Thanatos 02:47, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
It's a Spanish New World colonial 8 Real silver dollar. http://www.maravedis.net/fernando6.html Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 02:48, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

More. This is fun. Nutty Roux100x100 anarchy symbol.svg 02:54, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
I enjoy it too. Perhaps you can shed light on this? Aboriginal Noise with 4 M's and a silent Q 02:56, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
If you read my comment after that, you would have noticed something like that happened to me and my dad. Anyway, I want to add more to my gallery on my userpage. Maybe if I put enough on, I can justify moving said gallery to its own page.--Thanatos 03:00, 21 October 2009 (UTC)
Arrr, matey, 'tis a Piece of Eight! (Fun fact: the Spanish Milled Dollar became the basis for the U.S. Dollar when the country was founded. The practice of dividing a dollar into 8 pieces (rather than 100 cents) continued on the New York Stock Exchange until the 1980s.) --Tracer (talk) 00:25, 2 May 2013 (UTC)
