When did the trend start and why are Creationists (some of them anyway) so intent to prove their beliefs as science ? What changed them from a faith belief ? Is their anti-science a response to what they perceive as an attack on beliefs. ? Hamster (talk) 17:14, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- During the twentieth century. The achievements of science cannot be denied, so it's natural for religious movements to present their beliefs as being supported by science. Movements that reject modern science altogether - like the Amish - will never appear to a mass audience. Creation science is also a response to creationism's previous decline in popularity & an attempt to revive creationist views. It also has a lot to do with the politics of American public school education. WẽãšẽĩõĩďMethinks it is a Weasel 17:25, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- I think the basic disagreement predates that by a long stretch. The moment observation conflicted with religious doctrine, they had to either retreat in to vagueness or undermine the observation. --Ask me about your mother 17:28, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- Shit dude, what I'd like to know is why they insist on telling everyone that creationists invented science. Can they not see that it was merely the pervailing view of the time? Its like saying people who didn't believe in germ theory invented science. Do they really think (actually, they do really think) Newton would be a creationist today? - It mainly happened in the 1960s and 70s. In the early 20th century, it was common for creationists to claim that evolution was not really a scientific theory but only philosophical view and as a result teaching evolution was banned in several US states. All of these laws were overturned during the 50s and 60s, so creationists developed the new concept of 'creation science' or 'scientific creationism', a scientific theory that should be taught in schools as an alternative to evolution. --CChristian (talk) 19:24, 20 February 2010 (UTC)
- @ace, Holy Mother Church is responsible for science. When was the inquisition again ? Hamster (talk) 04:48, 21 February 2010 (UTC)
