2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Fun:Fire engines

Why are fire engines red?

Fire engines have 8 wheels and 4 firefighters on them. 8 + 4 = 12. 12 inches is a foot. One foot is a ruler. There was a ruler named Queen Elizabeth. Queen Elizabeth is the name of a ship. Ships sail the seas. In the seas are fish. Fish have fins. The Finns fought the Russians. Russians are red.

That's why fire engines are red. Because they're always "rushin'". And they have sirens that make a long wooooooo sound.
