Qur'an 10:1[edit]

Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the Verses of the Wise Book.

Qur'an 10:1 Notes[edit]

Yet another chapter starts with these Arabic letters. Despite how many chapters start with them, scholars to this day have no concrete idea what they could mean. Surely, "the Wise Book" would be better than that.

Qur'an 10:2[edit]

Is it a wonder to the people that We inspired a man from among them: “Warn mankind, and give good news to those who believe that they are on a sound footing with their Lord”? The disbelievers said, “This is a manifest sorcerer.”

Qur'an 10:2 Notes[edit]

It's a wonder that God chose to convey the truth to a single man instead of talking to everybody himself. He could have simply chosen any other option and went with an option that looks like any old cult leader.

Qur'an 10:3[edit]

Your Lord is God, who created the heavens and the earth in six days, then settled over the Throne, governing all things. There is no intercessor except after His permission. Such is God, your Lord—so serve Him. Will you not reflect?

Qur'an 10:3 Notes[edit]

We can reflect upon the sheer lack of evidence. How do we know that the heavens and the earth were made in six days? How do we know that an intelligent being crated them? How do we know that this same being is the God described in this book? Surely "the Wise Book" would have concrete answers to these legitimate questions.

Qur'an 10:4[edit]

To Him is your return, altogether. The promise of God is true. He originates creation, and then He repeats it, to reward those who believe and do good deeds with equity. As for those who disbelieve, for them is a drink of boiling water, and agonizing torment, on account of their disbelief.

Qur'an 10:4 Notes[edit]

God would not need to constantly assert that his promise is true if the truth was actually on his side. He could just prove what he says instead of threatening disbelievers with cruel punishments.

Qur'an 10:5[edit]

It is He who made the sun radiant, and the moon a light, and determined phases for it—that you may know the number of years and the calculation. God did not create all this except with truth. He details the revelations for a people who know.

Qur'an 10:5 Notes[edit]

Again, this assertion needs evidence. How do we know that someone intentionally did that? How do we know that this someone is the same God described in this book?

Qur'an 10:6[edit]

In the alternation of night and day, and in what God created in the heavens and the earth, are signs for people who are aware.

Qur'an 10:6 Notes[edit]

People have been observing the heavens and the earth long before any Abrahamic religions. Were the signs not there before? Also, what kind of sign only points to a certain conclusion for people who already believe that conclusion? That sounds more like confirmation bias.

Qur'an 10:7[edit]

Those who do not hope to meet Us, and are content with the worldly life, and are at ease in it, and those who pay no heed to Our signs.

Qur'an 10:7 Notes[edit]

This worldly life is far more demonstrably real than existence after death. Many theistic religions reject the afterlife of this religion. God deliberately made his signs unconvincing to most people and even sealed the hearts of disbelievers to keep them in their disbelief.

Qur'an 10:8[edit]

These—their dwelling is the Fire—on account of what they used to do.

Qur'an 10:8 Notes[edit]

How dare those heathens appreciate the only life they have? How dare they refuse to believe ridiculous claims without evidence when God brags about keeping them in disbelief? These crimes are so offensive to the one true god that an eternity of torture is justified somehow!

Qur'an 10:9[edit]

As for those who believe and do good deeds, their Lord guides them in their faith. Rivers will flow beneath them in the Gardens of Bliss.

Qur'an 10:9 Notes[edit]

These good deeds apparently only count for believers. Also, how interesting that God only guides those who believe that he exists, almost as if he doesn't actually exist outside of the minds of believers...

Qur'an 10:10[edit]

Their call therein is, “Glory be to You, our God.” And their greeting therein is, “Peace.” And the last of their call is, “Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds.”

Qur'an 10:10 Notes[edit]

Of course, God has such a divine ego that he wants people to revere his name in every conversation.

Qur'an 10:11[edit]

If God were to accelerate the ill for the people, as they wish to accelerate the good, their term would have been fulfilled. But We leave those who do not expect Our encounter to blunder in their excesses.

Qur'an 10:11 Notes[edit]

This just reads like an excuse.

Qur'an 10:12[edit]

Whenever adversity touches the human being, he prays to Us—reclining on his side, or sitting, or standing. But when We have relieved his adversity from him, he goes away, as though he had never called on Us for trouble that had afflicted him. Thus the deeds of the transgressors appear good to them.

Qur'an 10:12 Notes[edit]

Believe it or not, humans are far more complex than this and don't all behave as this verse describes. Shocking, I know. Does the all-knowing creator of humanity know this about humanity?

Qur'an 10:13[edit]

We destroyed generations before you when they did wrong. Their messengers came to them with clear signs, but they would not believe. Thus We requite the sinful people.

Qur'an 10:13 Notes[edit]

What historical evidence supports the existence of these messengers, much less that God actually communicated to them and cruelly destroyed those who met such laughable claims with skepticism?

Qur'an 10:14[edit]

Then We made you successors on earth after them, to see how you would behave.

Qur'an 10:14 Notes[edit]

Does this cosmic narcissist know anything?

Qur'an 10:15[edit]

And when Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who do not hope to meet Us say, “Bring a Quran other than this, or change it.” Say, “It is not for me to change it of my own accord. I only follow what is revealed to me. I fear, if I disobeyed my Lord, the torment of a terrible Day.”

Qur'an 10:15 Notes[edit]

These "clear revelations" contradict themselves constantly and are often impossible to understand because of how unclear they are. Also, are we really supposed to believe that Muhammad never changed this "clear revelation" of his own accord when it repeatedly commands Muslims to follow and obey him?

Qur'an 10:16[edit]

Say, “Had God willed, I would not have recited it to you, and He would not have made it known to you. I have lived among you for a lifetime before it. Do you not understand?”

Qur'an 10:16 Notes[edit]

And yet, despite this, God deliberately makes the truth unknown to the vast majority of humans to ever exist. Sure, people always hear about the Quran and the "clear revelations" in it, but these people don't know that any of it is true because they don't have any deep conviction that any of it is true.

Qur'an 10:17[edit]

Who does greater wrong than someone who fabricates lies about God, or denies His revelations? The guilty will never prosper.

Qur'an 10:17 Notes[edit]

The "guilty" have prospered long before any of these religions came about and continue to prosper to this day. Also, skepticism and denial are not remotely the same thing.

Qur'an 10:18[edit]

And they worship, besides God, what neither harms them nor benefits them. And they say, “These are our intercessors with God.” Say, “Are you informing God about what He does not know in the heavens or on earth?” Glorified be He, High above the associations they make.

Qur'an 10:18 Notes[edit]

What evidence does this God provide that the benefits or harms anyone. He constantly makes such lofty claims, but how can anyone know that God even exists, much less that the does anything for anybody? Also, this book paints God as knowing nothing about the vaguely-defined "heavens" and the less-vaguely-defined "earth" but still having the confidence of someone who knows everything.

Qur'an 10:19[edit]

Mankind was a single community; then they differed. Were it not for a prior decree from your Lord, the matters over which they had disputed would have been settled.

Qur'an 10:19 Notes[edit]

Anthropologists and evolutionary biologists the world over beg to differ. Also, is this verse claiming that God fragmented humanity deliberately?

Qur'an 10:20[edit]

And they say, “If only a miracle was sent down to him from his Lord.” Say, “The realm of the unseen belongs to God; so wait, I am waiting with you.”

Qur'an 10:20 Notes[edit]

Muhammad can say that "The realm of the unseen belongs to God" all he want. Also, why does God not just give us miracles alongside undeniable proof that they are, in fact, miracles from an all-powerful god? He knows exactly what would convince us and what would fail to convince us, does he not?

Qur'an 10:21[edit]

When We make the people taste mercy after some adversity has touched them, they begin to scheme against Our revelations. Say, “God is swifter in scheming.” Our envoys are writing down what you scheme.

Qur'an 10:21 Notes[edit]

Muhammad is just assuming things about people who refuse to follow and obey him completely.

Qur'an 10:22[edit]

It is He who transports you across land and sea. Until, when you are on ships, sailing in a favorable wind, and rejoicing in it, a raging wind arrives. The waves surge over them from every side, and they realize that they are besieged. Thereupon they pray to God, professing sincere devotion to Him: “If You save us from this, we will be among the appreciative.”

Qur'an 10:22 Notes[edit]

Where exactly is God in all of this? Why does he remain hidden throughout everything and still claim credit for everything?

Qur'an 10:23[edit]

But then, when He has saved them, they commit violations on earth, and oppose justice. O people! Your violations are against your own souls. It is the enjoyment of the present life. Then to Us is your return, and We will inform you of what you used to do.

Qur'an 10:23 Notes[edit]

What an insecure excuse of a god!

Qur'an 10:24[edit]

The likeness of the present life is this: water that We send down from the sky is absorbed by the plants of the earth, from which the people and the animals eat. Until, when the earth puts on its fine appearance, and is beautified, and its inhabitants think that they have mastered it, Our command descends upon it by night or by day, and We turn it into stubble, as if it had not flourished the day before. We thus clarify the revelations for people who reflect.

Qur'an 10:24 Notes[edit]

God did a terrible job clarifying this book. Just look at the first few letters in the first verse of this chapter as an example. At the very least, when he claims credit for the rain, people can see and feel rain.

Qur'an 10:25[edit]

God invites to the Home of Peace, and guides whomever He wills to a straight path.

Qur'an 10:25 Notes[edit]

Why he doesn't simply will to guide everyone is and instead chooses to limit guidance to a select few is a question for only the most merciful.

Qur'an 10:26[edit]

For those who have done good is goodness, and more. Neither gloom nor shame will come over their faces. These are the inhabitants of Paradise, abiding therein forever.

Qur'an 10:26 Notes[edit]

What about those disbelievers who still do good? God promises to ignore their very real good deeds purely because they disbelieve, after all.

Qur'an 10:27[edit]

As for those who have earned evil deeds: a reward of similar evil, and shame will cover them. They will have no defense against God—as if their faces are covered with dark patches of night. These are the inmates of the Fire, abiding therein forever.

Qur'an 10:27 Notes[edit]

Why would anybody even need "defense against God" whatsoever? This would only be necessary if God were actually a cruel despot who predestines people to disbelieve and horrifically deems any disbelief as deserving the most horrific punishments possible.

Qur'an 10:28[edit]

On the Day when We will gather them altogether, then say to those who ascribed partners, “To your place, you and your partners.” Then We will separate between them, and their partners will say, “It was not us you were worshiping.”

Qur'an 10:28 Notes[edit]

This verse suggests that other gods actually exist but that one specific god is above them. Doesn't this book say that polytheists just "invent" these false gods?

Qur'an 10:29[edit]

“God is sufficient witness between us and you. We were unaware of your worshiping us.”

Qur'an 10:29 Notes[edit]

So wait, are these lesser gods supposed to be as ignorant as the "sufficient witness"?

Qur'an 10:30[edit]

There, every soul will experience what it had done previously; and they will be returned to God, their True Master; and what they used to invent will fail them.

Qur'an 10:30 Notes[edit]

So wait, did polytheists invent other gods or did they worship other gods who actually existed? Do those polytheistic gods become real just because some people believe in them? What even is reality at this point?

Qur'an 10:31[edit]

Say, “Who provides for you from the heaven and the earth? And who controls the hearing and the sight? And who produces the living from the dead, and produces the dead from the living? And who governs the Order?” They will say, “God.” Say, “Will you not be careful?”

Qur'an 10:31 Notes[edit]

What evidence does anyone have that God does any of these things?

Qur'an 10:32[edit]

Such is God, your Lord—the True. What is there, beyond the truth, except falsehood? How are you turned away?

Qur'an 10:32 Notes[edit]

God repeatedly claims in this book to turn people away deliberately.

Qur'an 10:33[edit]

Thus your Lord’s Word proved true against those who disobeyed, for they do not believe.

Qur'an 10:33 Notes[edit]

Can it prove true now?

Qur'an 10:34[edit]

Say, “Can any of your partners initiate creation, and then repeat it?” Say, “God initiates creation, and then repeats it. How are you so deluded?”

Qur'an 10:34 Notes[edit]

Yes. These partners, known as TrueGods can "initiate creation, and then repeat it" with ease. In fact, they were the ones who created the specific god of this religion. As a matter of fact, the TrueGods are creating and repeating entire worlds at this very moment since they control time itself. The signs for the TrueGods can be seen all around the round earth and in the non-firmament sky.

Qur'an 10:35[edit]

Say, “Can any of your partners guide to the truth?” Say, “God guides to the truth. Is He who guides to the truth more worthy of being followed, or he who does not guide, unless he himself is guided? What is the matter with you? How do you judge?”

Qur'an 10:35 Notes[edit]

What "truth" does this God even know? Also, considering that God refuses to guide the vast majority of humans because he doesn't like them, only guiding those who conveniently already believe in him, is God really "He who guides to the truth" as this verse says?

Qur'an 10:36[edit]

Most of them follow nothing but assumptions; and assumptions avail nothing against the truth. God is fully aware of what they do.

Qur'an 10:36 Notes[edit]

God evidently has a problem with people just assuming that they're right and taking things on faith.

Qur'an 10:37[edit]

This Quran could not have been produced by anyone other than God. In fact, it is a confirmation of what preceded it, and an elaboration of the Book. There is no doubt about it—it is from the Lord of the Universe.

Qur'an 10:37 Notes[edit]

This verse would not need to exist if any part of it were true. It would be filled with only internal consistency, demonstrable facts, morality for all humans in all times, and undeniable evidence. These alone would be enough to convince any reader that they were reading a divine book with zero doubts.

Qur'an 10:38[edit]

Or do they say, “He has forged it”? Say, “Then produce a single chapter like it, and call upon whomever you can, apart from God, if you are truthful.”

Qur'an 10:38 Notes[edit]

What constitutes "a single chapter like it" exactly? People have written beautiful, clear, easy-to-understand chapters filled with demonstrable facts. Oh wait, those verses are better than any chapter of this book and are thus above the shoddy work that only God could produce.

Qur'an 10:39[edit]

In fact, they deny what is beyond the limits of their knowledge, and whose explanation has not yet reached them. Thus those before them refused to believe. So note the consequences for the wrongdoers.

Qur'an 10:39 Notes[edit]

God created humans with these limits if this book is to be believed.

Qur'an 10:40[edit]

Among them are those who believe in it, and among them are those who do not believe in it. Your Lord is fully aware of the mischief-makers.

Qur'an 10:40 Notes[edit]

He had better be considering that he claims to have created them and predestined every though and action in their lives.

Qur'an 10:41[edit]

If they accuse you of lying, say, “I have my deeds, and you have your deeds. You are quit of what I do, and I am quit of what you do.”

Qur'an 10:41 Notes[edit]

Their accusations would hold exactly as much water in that case.

Qur'an 10:42[edit]

And among them are those who listen to you. But can you make the deaf hear, even though they do not understand?

Qur'an 10:42 Notes[edit]

Get over yourself. People can hear you just fine. They're not "deaf" just because they don't hear a good reason to believe what you're saying. They understand that you're not more convincing than any other cult leader of the time.

Qur'an 10:43[edit]

And among them are those who look at you. But can you guide the blind, even though they do not see?

Qur'an 10:43 Notes[edit]

Similarly, people aren't blind just because they don't see any reason to believe you.

Qur'an 10:44[edit]

God does not wrong the people in the least, but the people wrong their own selves.

Qur'an 10:44 Notes[edit]

God apparently loves victim-blaming. People don't knowingly and willingly condemn themselves to an eternity of agony. God does that. God creates them specifically so that they break his arbitrary rules and end up in Hell.

Qur'an 10:45[edit]

On the Day when He rounds them up—as if they had tarried only one hour of a day—they will recognize one another. Those who denied the meeting with God will be the losers. They were not guided.

Qur'an 10:45 Notes[edit]

They were not guided by God, so why should they be held accountable for having "denied" something which they never even believed to be remotely true?

Qur'an 10:46[edit]

Whether We show you some of what We promise them, or take you, to Us is their return. God is witness to everything they do.

Qur'an 10:46 Notes[edit]

These promises are horrific in every way. The only silver lining is that God's word means nothing given how consistently wrong he is.

Qur'an 10:47[edit]

Every community has a messenger. When their messenger has come, judgment will be passed between them with fairness, and they will not be wronged.

Qur'an 10:47 Notes[edit]

Apparently, Muhammad is meant to be a messenger for all of humanity. Is the entire world now just part of a singular community that has remained the same community since Muhammad's time?

Qur'an 10:48[edit]

And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?”

Qur'an 10:48 Notes[edit]

This is a valid question.

Qur'an 10:49[edit]

Say, “I have no power to harm or benefit myself, except as God wills. To every nation is an appointed time. Then, when their time arrives, they can neither postpone it by one hour, nor advance it.

Qur'an 10:49 Notes[edit]

This only means anything if people have any way of knowing anything about this "appointed time" that should be coming any century now.

Qur'an 10:50[edit]

Say, “Have you considered? If His punishment overtakes you by night or by day, what part of it will the guilty seek to hasten?”

Qur'an 10:50 Notes[edit]

Maybe the part where people actually see any evidence that Muhammad's ramblings were based in reality?

Qur'an 10:51[edit]

“Then, when it falls, will you believe in it? Now? When before you tried to hasten it?”

Qur'an 10:51 Notes[edit]

Nobody tries to hasten the worst fate imaginable. People might facetiously say that, though this is clearly just mockery of the ridiculous ideas spread by these prophets cult leaders. Also, this verse acknowledges that these sinners sincerely disbelieve until they see concrete evidence which God has deliberately chosen to withhold.

Qur'an 10:52[edit]

Then it will be said to those who did wrong, “Taste the torment of eternity. Will you be rewarded except for what you used to do?”

Qur'an 10:52 Notes[edit]

People could do everything right based on what they know to be true and avoid falsehoods. This book, at least on paper, claims to condone the truth and condemn lies. Such people sincerely see this religion as no more true than any other organized religion and reject it for that reason, though Muhammad's morality is a large part of it as well. Why does God, who seemingly understands everybody, consider them as wrongdoers and punish them with infinite severity?

Qur'an 10:53[edit]

And they inquire of you, “Is it true?” Say, “Yes, by my Lord, it is true, and you cannot evade it.”

Qur'an 10:53 Notes[edit]

Skeptics aren't suddenly going to believe you when you say that your questionable stories are true. Threats don't make them any more believable.

Qur'an 10:54[edit]

Had every soul which had done wrong possessed everything on earth, it would offer it as a ransom. They will hide the remorse when they witness the suffering, and it will be judged between them equitably, and they will not be wronged.

Qur'an 10:54 Notes[edit]

Again, this just makes God look like a maximally cruel despot with such a childish ego that he only cares about people praising them when determining who gets the infinite agony.

Qur'an 10:55[edit]

Assuredly, to God belongs everything in the heavens and the earth. Assuredly, the promise of God is true. But most of them do not know.

Qur'an 10:55 Notes[edit]

Assuredly, the first word in this sentence does not make something any more true.

Qur'an 10:56[edit]

He gives life and causes death, and to Him you will be returned.

Qur'an 10:56 Notes[edit]

Obviously, only the TrueGods do that.

Qur'an 10:57[edit]

O people! There has come to you advice from your Lord, and healing for what is in the hearts, and guidance and mercy for the believers.

Qur'an 10:57 Notes[edit]

Prove that this advice came from the God described in this book, once you prove God's existence of course.

Qur'an 10:58[edit]

Say, “In God’s grace and mercy let them rejoice. That is better than what they hoard.”

Qur'an 10:58 Notes[edit]

Why not let everyone rejoice in this grace and mercy? God can do that. There are no reasons to not do that.

Qur'an 10:59[edit]

Say, “Have you considered the sustenance God has sent down for you, some of which you made unlawful, and some lawful?” Say, “Did God give you permission, or do you fabricate lies and attribute them to God?”

Qur'an 10:59 Notes[edit]

People who claim to know anything about God when taking those things on faith "fabricate lies and attribute them to God" by falsely stating what isn't known explicitly to be true.

Qur'an 10:60[edit]

What will they think—those who fabricate lies and attribute them to God—on the Day of Resurrection? God is bountiful towards the people, but most of them do not give thanks.

Qur'an 10:60 Notes[edit]

Most of them have no real evidence that God exists as described in this book, so why would they give thanks to a being who may or may not even exist? Besides, does this God give thanks to the TrueGods?

Qur'an 10:61[edit]

You do not get into any situation, nor do you recite any Quran, nor do you do anything, but We are watching over you as you undertake it. Not even the weight of an atom, on earth or in the sky, escapes your Lord, nor is there anything smaller or larger, but is in a clear record.

Qur'an 10:61 Notes[edit]

God says this while showing total ignorance of anything that matters.

Qur'an 10:62[edit]

Unquestionably, God’s friends have nothing to fear, nor shall they grieve.

Qur'an 10:62 Notes[edit]

God commands his followers to fear his wrath constantly.

Qur'an 10:63[edit]

Those who believe and are aware.

Qur'an 10:63 Notes[edit]

...are different groups of people.

Qur'an 10:64[edit]

For them is good news in this life, and in the Hereafter. There is no alteration to the words of God. That is the supreme triumph.

Qur'an 10:64 Notes[edit]

There is no contradiction or abrogation in this book? That's a bold claim.

Qur'an 10:65[edit]

And let not their sayings dishearten you. All power is God’s. He is the Hearer, the Knower.

Qur'an 10:65 Notes[edit]

And yet he doesn't seem to know anything about his creations.

Qur'an 10:66[edit]

Certainly, to God belongs everyone in the heavens and everyone on earth. Those who invoke other than God do not follow partners; they follow only assumptions, and they only guess.

Qur'an 10:66 Notes[edit]

And those who take God's existence on faith also "follow only assumptions, and they only guess", but that's different somehow.

Qur'an 10:67[edit]

It is He who made the night for your rest, and the daylight for visibility. Surely in that are signs for people who listen.

Qur'an 10:67 Notes[edit]

What evidence does anyone have that night was deliberately designed for humans to rest while daylight was designed to be visible to human eyes? Would it not make more sense for humans to be active when they can see and go to rest when they can't, thus adapting to the day-night cycle instead? On that note, many humans sleep between 6 to 8 hours every night, thus spending between 1/4 and 1/3 of each day resting just to be able to function the rest of the time. What sense does that make?

Qur'an 10:68[edit]

And they said, “God has taken a son.” Be He glorified. He is the Self-Sufficient. His is everything in the heavens and everything on earth. Do you have any proof for this? Or are you saying about God what you do not know?

Qur'an 10:68 Notes[edit]

God chose a single human in each community as a prophet to communicate his truth despite knowing how it always ends up. He eventually just gave up and appointed Muhammad as the prophet for all of humanity from that point forward. That seems around as ridiculous as God having a son. This raises some questions: "Do you have any proof for this? Or are you saying about God what you do not know?"

Qur'an 10:69[edit]

Say, “Those who fabricate lies about God will not succeed.”

Qur'an 10:69 Notes[edit]

Tell that to the people who knowingly and willingly spread false information about God and not those who, because of this same capricious tyrant, don't know of his existence in the first place.

Qur'an 10:70[edit]

Some enjoyment in this world; then to Us is their return; then We will make them taste the severe punishment on account of their disbelief.

Qur'an 10:70 Notes[edit]

Why? Why does sincere disbelief require any sort of punishment?

Qur'an 10:71[edit]

And relate to them the story of Noah, when he said to his people, “O my people, if my presence among you and my reminding you of God’s signs is too much for you, then in God I have put my trust. So come to a decision, you and your partners, and do not let the matter perplex you; then carry out your decision on me, and do not hold back.”

Qur'an 10:71 Notes[edit]

Is this the story where Noah spends literal centuries building a wooden vessel for his family and several animals right before God floods the globe?

Qur'an 10:72[edit]

“But if you turn away, I have not asked you for any wage. My wage falls only on God, and I was commanded to be of those who submit.”

Qur'an 10:72 Notes[edit]

Thankfully, this story has so much evidence against it ever happening.

Qur'an 10:73[edit]

But they denounced him, so We saved him and those with him in the Ark, and We made them successors, and We drowned those who rejected Our signs. So consider the fate of those who were warned.

Qur'an 10:73 Notes[edit]

Prove that they were warned and drowned because they weren't gullible enough to accept the warnings without any evidence.

Qur'an 10:74[edit]

Then, after him, We sent messengers to their people. They came to them with the clear proofs, but they would not believe in anything they had already rejected. Thus We set a seal on the hearts of the hostile.

Qur'an 10:74 Notes[edit]

Where are the "clear proofs" exactly? Can we see them now? Surely "the Wise Book" would actually include them.

Qur'an 10:75[edit]

Then, after them, We sent Moses and Aaron with Our proofs to Pharaoh and his dignitaries. But they acted arrogantly. They were sinful people.

Qur'an 10:75 Notes[edit]

This is another historically and ethically problematic fairytale.

Qur'an 10:76[edit]

And when the truth came to them from Us, they said, “This is clearly sorcery.”

Qur'an 10:76 Notes[edit]

It looked like sorcery to them. Your "proofs" simply failed to convince people.

Qur'an 10:77[edit]

Moses said, “Is this what you say of the truth when it has come to you? Is this sorcery? Sorcerers do not succeed.”

Qur'an 10:77 Notes[edit]

Moses could simply prove beyond a reasonable doubt that this is the truth and not just the ramblings of a sorcerer.

Qur'an 10:78[edit]

They said, “Did you come to us to divert us from what we found our ancestors following, and so that you become prominent in the land? We will never believe in you.”

Qur'an 10:78 Notes[edit]

Considering that most Muslims are born into Muslim families and believe the same religion that the family has been believing for generations, are they in the wrong for unquestioningly accepting Islam instead of those converts?

Qur'an 10:79[edit]

Pharaoh said, “Bring me every experienced sorcerer.”

Qur'an 10:79 Notes[edit]

Which Pharaoh? God should know that multiple Pharaohs existed, all of whom have more solid evidence than do Moses and Aaron.

Qur'an 10:80[edit]

And when the sorcerers came, Moses said to them, “Throw whatever you have to throw.”

Qur'an 10:80 Notes[edit]

And then Moses would throw his own impressive magic tricks while erroneously and fallaciously asserting that his tricks are the result of a god.

Qur'an 10:81[edit]

And when they threw, Moses said, “What you produced is sorcery, and God will make it fail. God does not foster the efforts of the corrupt.”

Qur'an 10:81 Notes[edit]

Moses doesn't actually prove any of this and throws other magic tricks.

Qur'an 10:82[edit]

“And God upholds the truth with His words, even though the sinners detest it.”

Qur'an 10:82 Notes[edit]

God could do a better job actually demonstrating that his words are actually from a deity of any kind while proving them to be remotely truthful. Also, what is it with this insecure excuse for a god always asserting that "sinners detest it" when supposedly knowing how wrong this statement is. This just sounds like Muhammad's frustration.

Qur'an 10:83[edit]

But none believed in Moses except some children of his people, for fear that Pharaoh and his chiefs would persecute them. Pharaoh was high and mighty in the land. He was a tyrant.

Qur'an 10:83 Notes[edit]

Sadly, many places in the world today have a similar problem. Many people reject Islam but are deathly afraid that Muslim authorities would persecute them for their disbelief.

Qur'an 10:84[edit]

Moses said, “O my people, if you have believed in God, then put your trust in Him, if you have submitted.”

Qur'an 10:84 Notes[edit]

Moses seems very "high and mighty" in the land by saying "O my people" to those who believe in the same skydaddy as him.

Qur'an 10:85[edit]

They said, “In God we have put our trust. Our Lord, do not make us victims of the oppressive people.”

Qur'an 10:85 Notes[edit]

God could just be nicer and not even make people oppressive in the first place so that there would be no victims. Also, who could be more oppressive than a being who inflicts any infinite punishment on any finite being?

Qur'an 10:86[edit]

“And deliver us, by Your mercy, from the disbelieving people.”

Qur'an 10:86 Notes[edit]

God could do that by being obvious enough and sending clear enough proofs that everyone who sees the truth would have no choice but to believe. After all, this book talks a lot about "clear proofs" and suggests that everyone who sees these "clear proofs" would believe, so how can anyone stay a disbeliever after seeing these clear proofs?

Qur'an 10:87[edit]

And We inspired Moses and his brother, “Settle your people in Egypt, and make your homes places of worship, and perform the prayer, and give good news to the believers.”

Qur'an 10:87 Notes[edit]

The "good news" is that the majority of humanity will suffer an unavoidable punishment in the afterlife but that believers might be spared the wrath of a capricious despot.

Qur'an 10:88[edit]

Moses said, “Our Lord, you have given Pharaoh and his chiefs splendor and wealth in the worldly life. Our Lord, for them to lead away from Your path. Our Lord, obliterate their wealth, and harden their hearts, they will not believe until they see the painful torment.”

Qur'an 10:88 Notes[edit]

Why would God need to "harden their hearts" when this verse implies that their hard hearts already prevent them from accepting the truth? Also, what sense does it make to hold people accountable for beliefs that they sincerely do not hold? This verse states explicitly that Pharaoh and his chiefs don't believe.

Qur'an 10:89[edit]

He said, “Your prayer has been answered, so go straight, and do not follow the path of those who do not know.”

Qur'an 10:89 Notes[edit]

Moses could have prayed for God to soften Pharaoh's heart instead of hardening it. Then again, would that prayer do anything? Did God just predestine Moses to pray this exact prayer before doing what he was going to do regardless?

Qur'an 10:90[edit]

And We delivered the Children of Israel across the sea. Pharaoh and his troops pursued them, defiantly and aggressively. Until, when he was about to drown, he said, “I believe that there is no god except the One the Children of Israel believe in, and I am of those who submit.”

Qur'an 10:90 Notes[edit]

Pharaoh saw a clear sign, believed in God, and submitted. Does this mean that all is forgiven? Would the "Merciful" and "Forgiving" skydaddy show this mercy and forgiveness to a man whom God predestined to need it at this time?

Qur'an 10:91[edit]

Now? When you have rebelled before, and been of the mischief-makers?

Qur'an 10:91 Notes[edit]

Many people become Muslim after decades of mischief and disbelief because they go from disbelief to belief in this specific version of God.

Qur'an 10:92[edit]

Today We will preserve your body, so that you become a sign for those after you. But most people are heedless of Our signs.

Qur'an 10:92 Notes[edit]

Many pharaohs are preserved quite well, not just the one nameless Pharaoh that God mentioned here. Despite this, not a single preserved pharaoh acts as a sign of this story to anyone who doesn't already believe.

Qur'an 10:93[edit]

And We settled the Children of Israel in a position of honor, and provided them with good things. They did not differ until knowledge came to them. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection regarding their differences.

Qur'an 10:93 Notes[edit]

What does that mean? They were all in agreement until they knew things?

Qur'an 10:94[edit]

If you are in doubt about what We revealed to you, ask those who read the Scripture before you. The truth has come to you from your Lord, so do not be of those who doubt.

Qur'an 10:94 Notes[edit]

Skeptics won't just stop being skeptical because God said so. What evidence points to this being "truth" or that it "has come down from your Lord" exactly? Assuming that these ramblings are 100% consistent not just internally but with the Scriptures revealed to Jews or Christians, what does that prove? This is quite the lofty assumption given how contradictory God's revelations tend to be across all religions.

Qur'an 10:95[edit]

And do not be of those who deny God’s revelations, lest you become one of the losers.

Qur'an 10:95 Notes[edit]

Again, God continues his irrational refusal to prove that these "revelations" are actually from him.

Qur'an 10:96[edit]

Those against whom your Lord’s Word is justified will not believe.

Qur'an 10:96 Notes[edit]

Could it be due to this book's downright unbelievable fairytales and blatant contradictions at every turn?

Qur'an 10:97[edit]

Even if every sign comes to them—until they see the painful punishment.

Qur'an 10:97 Notes[edit]

This "truth" is so far from the truth that only horrific torture can get people to believe it.

Qur'an 10:98[edit]

If only there was one town that believed and benefited by its belief. Except for the people of Jonah. When they believed, We removed from them the suffering of disgrace in the worldly life, and We gave them comfort for a while.

Qur'an 10:98 Notes[edit]

Many people throughout history were named Jonah. Which group of people specifically does this story reference?

Qur'an 10:99[edit]

Had your Lord willed, everyone on earth would have believed. Will you compel people to become believers?

Qur'an 10:99 Notes[edit]

Once again, God states explicitly that he doesn't want everyone to believe in him despite setting an infinite punishment for the noncrime of nonbelief.

Qur'an 10:100[edit]

No soul can believe except by God’s leave; and He lays disgrace upon those who refuse to understand.

Qur'an 10:100 Notes[edit]

The first half of this verse says that people can't believe without God explicitly allowing them to believe. The second half of this verse talks about how God disgraces those who don't do what this same capricious God refuses to allow them to do.

Qur'an 10:101[edit]

Say, “Look at what is in the heavens and the earth.” But signs and warnings are of no avail for people who do not believe.

Qur'an 10:101 Notes[edit]

People can see countless stars and planets in the heavens above. People can see natural wonders and diverse nations all around the earth. According to this verse, these "signs and warnings" can only act as confirmation bias, not as actual signs. Does this idiotic deity even know what "signs and warnings" are?

Qur'an 10:102[edit]

Do they expect anything but the likes of the days of those who passed away before them? Say, “Then wait, I will be waiting with you.”

Qur'an 10:102 Notes[edit]

Historians and anthropologists consistently question whether any stories in this book are even remotely true.

Qur'an 10:103[edit]

Then We save Our messengers and those who believe. It is binding on Us to save the believers.

Qur'an 10:103 Notes[edit]

God saves these people from his own capricious wrath. He is okay with deceiving and torturing billions of people on a whim, so why would God honor this verse exactly? What is exactly "binding" on God to save anyone? What separates this from any other falsehood for which God takes full credit?

Qur'an 10:104[edit]

Say, “O people, if you are in doubt about my religion—I do not serve those you serve apart from God. But I serve God, the one who will terminate your lives. And I was commanded to be of the believers.”

Qur'an 10:104 Notes[edit]

Say that and wonder why people keep ridiculing you.

Qur'an 10:105[edit]

And dedicate yourself to the true religion—a monotheist—and never be of the polytheists.

Qur'an 10:105 Notes[edit]

What of those who worship exactly one god but not this specific cosmic despot? If there is indeed a god out there and only one god at that, why would that god even remotely resemble the god of this religion?

Qur'an 10:106[edit]

And do not call, apart from God, on what neither benefits you nor harms you. If you do, you are then one of the wrongdoers.

Qur'an 10:106 Notes[edit]

God "neither benefits you nor harms you" by virtue of being entirely fictional. He is perfectly capable of producing evidence to the contrary and letting people believe. Of course, this cosmic crybaby doesn't actually want people to believe for reasons that can only be described as endless malice.

Qur'an 10:107[edit]

If God afflicts you with harm, none can remove it except He. And if He wants good for you, none can repel His grace. He makes it reach whomever He wills of His servants. He is the Forgiver, the Merciful.

Qur'an 10:107 Notes[edit]

So many verses assert that "He is the Forgiver, the Merciful" while barely any verses actually describe him as such. Quite frankly, the Arabic words for "Forgiver" and "Merciful" seem like nothing more than labels on the absolute zenith of evil.

Qur'an 10:108[edit]

Say, “O people, the truth has come to you from your Lord. Whoever accepts guidance is guided for his own soul; and whoever strays only strays to its detriment. I am not a guardian over you.”

Qur'an 10:108 Notes[edit]

Any semblance of "truth" that "has come to you from your Lord" is nowhere to be found in a book that contradicts itself and describes God as an infinitely malicious, infinitely moronic work of fiction.

Qur'an 10:109[edit]

And follow what is revealed to you, and be patient until God issues His judgment, for He is the Best of judges.

Qur'an 10:109 Notes[edit]

God's "judgment" is just him declaring some people to be innocent and others to be guilty based on rules that he made up and that fail to resemble justice in any meaningful way.
