Qur'an 31:1[edit]

Alif, Lam, Meem.

Qur'an 31:1 Notes[edit]

The puzzle of these letters at the start of these surahs add a level of mystique that would make this book exciting if it wasn't so repetitive and boring.

Qur'an 31:2[edit]

These are the Verses of the Wise Book.

Qur'an 31:2 Notes[edit]

You'll notice Trump does the same. He keeps repeating what a smart business man he is, it's almost as if saying it over and over again makes it true.

Qur'an 31:3[edit]

A guide and a mercy for the righteous.

Qur'an 31:3 Notes[edit]

This books includes so many reasons to torture and kill someone, including mercy anywhere is a stretch.

Qur'an 31:4[edit]

Those who observe the prayer, and pay the obligatory charity, and are certain of the Hereafter.

Qur'an 31:4 Notes[edit]

Except this books gives all sorts of other reasons why you might end up in hell despite doing the above.

Qur'an 31:5[edit]

These are upon guidance from their Lord. These are the successful.

Qur'an 31:5 Notes[edit]

Guidance that readily conflicts from Surah to Surah.

Qur'an 31:6[edit]

Among the people is he who trades in distracting tales; intending, without knowledge, to lead away from Allah’s way, and to make a mockery of it. These will have a humiliating punishment.

Qur'an 31:6 Notes[edit]

By tales, they simply mean anyone who disagrees with any of the nonsense in this book.

Qur'an 31:7[edit]

And when Our Verses are recited to him, he turns away in pride, as though he did not hear them, as though there is deafness in his ears. So inform him of a painful punishment.

Qur'an 31:7 Notes[edit]

He heard them alright, just didn't swallow the nonsense.

Qur'an 31:8[edit]

As for those who believe and do good deeds—for them are the Gardens of Bliss.

Qur'an 31:8 Notes[edit]

Any evidence of this bliss?

Qur'an 31:9[edit]

Dwelling therein forever. The promise of Allah is true. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

Qur'an 31:9 Notes[edit]

Ehh...evidence of this please...seriously?

Qur'an 31:10[edit]

He created the heavens without pillars that you can see, and placed stabilizers on earth lest it shifts with you, and scattered throughout it all kinds of creatures. And from the sky We sent down water, and caused to grow therein of every noble pair.

Qur'an 31:10 Notes[edit]

Stabilizers? If there is a whole city up there in the clouds those are some truly magical stabilizers.

Qur'an 31:11[edit]

Such is Allah’s creation. Now show me what those besides Him have created. In fact, the wicked are in obvious error.

Qur'an 31:11 Notes[edit]

The pagans in Rome had created aqueducts and complex sewage, the Chinese non-monotheists created paper and beaurocracy to manage society. All of those things that we can point to and prove. Where is this heaven?

Qur'an 31:12[edit]

We endowed Luqman with wisdom: “Give thanks to Allah.” Whoever is appreciative—is appreciative for the benefit of his own soul. And whoever is unappreciative—Allah is Sufficient and Praiseworthy.

Qur'an 31:12 Notes[edit]

This Allah sure expects a lot of praise.

Qur'an 31:13[edit]

When Luqman said to his son, as he advised him, “O my son, do not associate anything with Allah, for idolatry is a terrible wrong.”

Qur'an 31:13 Notes[edit]

This has already been well established in monotheism

Qur'an 31:14[edit]

We have entrusted the human being with the care of his parents. His mother carried him through hardship upon hardship, weaning him in two years. So give thanks to Me, and to your parents. To Me is the destination.

Qur'an 31:14 Notes[edit]

Pretty much a description of pagan Arab family attitudes at the time.

Qur'an 31:15[edit]

But if they strive to have you associate with Me something of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them. But keep them company in this life, in kindness, and follow the path of him who turns to Me. Then to Me is your return; and I will inform you of what you used to do.

Qur'an 31:15 Notes[edit]

This relates again to fealty to ones parents.

Qur'an 31:16[edit]

“O my son, even if it were the weight of a mustard-seed, in a rock, or in the heavens, or on earth, Allah will bring it to light. Allah is Kind and Expert.

Qur'an 31:16 Notes[edit]

Is Allah kind?

Qur'an 31:17[edit]

O my son, observe the prayer, advocate righteousness, forbid evil, and be patient over what has befallen you. These are of the most honorable traits.

Qur'an 31:17 Notes[edit]

Three out of four reasonable recommendations isn't bad for a Quranic verse.

Qur'an 31:18[edit]

And do not treat people with arrogance, nor walk proudly on earth. Allah does not love the arrogant showoffs.

Qur'an 31:18 Notes[edit]

Except for the millions in Gulf countries who flaunt their amazing God given oil wealth.

Qur'an 31:19[edit]

And moderate your stride, and lower your voice. The most repulsive of voices is the donkey’s voice.”

Qur'an 31:19 Notes[edit]

Modesty can be a virtue, this is true.

Qur'an 31:20[edit]

Do you not see how Allah placed at your service everything in the heavens and the earth? How He showered you with His blessings, both outward and inward? Yet among the people is he who argues about Allah without knowledge, without guidance, and without an enlightening Scripture.

Qur'an 31:20 Notes[edit]

A very tired trope in this book, those who don't swallow this nonsense are arrogant, ignorant and lack knowledge. Are they though?

Qur'an 31:21[edit]

And when it is said to them, “Follow what Allah has revealed,” they say, “Rather, we follow what we found our parents devoted to.” Even if Satan is calling them to the suffering of the Blaze?

Qur'an 31:21 Notes[edit]

That's pretty rich considering virtually everyone's religion is whatever their parent's was, including for muslims.

Qur'an 31:22[edit]

Whoever submits himself wholly to Allah, and is a doer of good, has grasped the most trustworthy handle. With Allah rests the outcome of all events.

Qur'an 31:22 Notes[edit]

A lot of claims, no proof anywhere in this book.

Qur'an 31:23[edit]

Whoever disbelieves—let not his disbelief sadden you. To Us is their return. Then We will inform them of what they did. Allah knows what lies within the hearts.

Qur'an 31:23 Notes[edit]

Yeah, don't take other people's skepticism seriously, their endless logical arguments against belief in a God in the sky is just a distraction from this nonsenese.

Qur'an 31:24[edit]

We give them a little comfort; then We compel them to a harsh torment.

Qur'an 31:24 Notes[edit]

There's a bit of that compassion and kindness.

Qur'an 31:25[edit]

And if you ask them, “Who created the heavens and the earth?” They will say, “Allah.” Say, “Praise be to Allah.” But most of them do not know.

Qur'an 31:25 Notes[edit]

The creator fallacy

Qur'an 31:26[edit]

To Allah belongs everything in the heavens and the earth. Allah is the Rich, the Praised.

Qur'an 31:26 Notes[edit]

Turns out even my autonomy belongs to him.

Qur'an 31:27[edit]

If all the trees on earth were pens, filled by the ocean, with seven more oceans besides, the Words of Allah would not run out. Allah is Majestic and Wise.

Qur'an 31:27 Notes[edit]

Mantra's aren't necessarily true.

Qur'an 31:28[edit]

Your creation and your resurrection are only as a single soul. Allah is Hearing and Seeing.

Qur'an 31:28 Notes[edit]

A soul is that thing that magically survives after your death, somehow. Details are scant.

Qur'an 31:29[edit]

Have you not seen how Allah merges the night into the day, and merges the day into the night? That He subjected the sun and the moon, each running for a stated term? And that Allah is Cognizant of everything you do?

Qur'an 31:29 Notes[edit]

It's called the rotation of the sun, nothing special. You don't need a god for the Earth to spin.

Qur'an 31:30[edit]

That is because Allah is the Reality, and what they worship besides Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Exalted, the Supreme.

Qur'an 31:30 Notes[edit]

Again...proof please?

Qur'an 31:31[edit]

Have you not seen how the ships sail through the sea, by the grace of Allah, to show you of His wonders? In that are signs for every persevering, thankful person.

Qur'an 31:31 Notes[edit]

Ships sail just fine without a fictional god.

Qur'an 31:32[edit]

When waves, like canopies, cover them, they call upon Allah, devoting their religion to Him. But when He has delivered them to dry land, some of them waver. No one renounces Our revelations except the treacherous blasphemer.

Qur'an 31:32 Notes[edit]

And yet Allah lets many of those ships sink anyways.

Qur'an 31:33[edit]

O people! Be conscious of your Lord, and dread a Day when no parent can avail his child, nor can a child avail his parent, in anything. The promise of Allah is true. Therefore, do not let this life deceive you, nor let illusions deceive you regarding Allah.

Qur'an 31:33 Notes[edit]

Fear a fictional hell so you will swallow this nonsense.

Qur'an 31:34[edit]

With Allah rests the knowledge of the Hour. He sends down the rain, and He knows what the wombs contain. No soul knows what it will reap tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die. Allah is All-Knowing, Well-Informed.

Qur'an 31:34 Notes[edit]

He certainly doesn't send down a lot of rain to the homeland of Islam (one of the driest deserts anywhere).
