Qur'an 16:1[edit]

The command of God has come, so do not rush it. Glory be to Him; exalted above what they associate.

Qur'an 16:1 Notes[edit]

The command of a guy named Muhammad was apparently mistaken by many to actually be from Allah.

Qur'an 16:2[edit]

He sends down the angels with the Spirit by His command, upon whom He wills of His servants: “Give warning that there is no god but Me, and fear Me.”

Qur'an 16:2 Notes[edit]

He deliberately chooses not to prove the existence of these "angels" or this "spirit" though. That is important if this message was indeed meant for humanity at large.

Qur'an 16:3[edit]

He created the heavens and the earth with justice. He is exalted above the associations they attribute.

Qur'an 16:3 Notes[edit]

Where does injustice come from? Allah recognizes that, by his own standards, injustice is in this world.

Qur'an 16:4[edit]

He created the human being from a drop of fluid, yet he becomes an open adversary.

Qur'an 16:4 Notes[edit]

This is because the human being made of more than just fluid has a brain and lacks the convincing evidence that this book insists can definitely prove Allah's existence. As for why so many people oppose Islam as a religion, the answer should be obvious to anyone who looks as Muhammad's psychopathy and the brutal conquests and slave trades by Muslim armies specifically in Allah's name.

Qur'an 16:5[edit]

And the livestock—He created them for you. In them are warmth and benefits for you, and of them you eat.

Qur'an 16:5 Notes[edit]

Some of these animals are indeed edible and provide good furs and wool, and even those animals are selectively bred to be docile animals with more meat and fur than in the wild. Some other animals would eat humans just as casually. Again, though, why does Allah take credit for that? What evidence does he provide that this is, in fact, his doing?

Qur'an 16:6[edit]

And there is beauty in them for you, when you bring them home, and when you drive them to pasture.

Qur'an 16:6 Notes[edit]

Beauty is subjective, as many people don't like to see or smell the animals in their home. Allah surely wants credit for the many beautiful smells.

Qur'an 16:7[edit]

And they carry your loads to territory you could not have reached without great hardship. Your Lord is Clement and Merciful.

Qur'an 16:7 Notes[edit]

They can, but many animals need to be selectively bred to reach this domesticated state and strength to carry adult humans and their belongings long distances. What does this have to do with the "Clement and Merciful" god claiming credit for them?

Qur'an 16:8[edit]

And the horses, and the mules, and the donkeys—for you to ride, and for luxury. And He creates what you do not know.

Qur'an 16:8 Notes[edit]

Those pesky scientific evolutionists try to explain the evolution of these animals in greater detail than Allah explains literally anything in this book. They could just acknowledge that Allah created them with the ability to carry humans and chariots long distances, but they go on about looking for "evidence" and explaining the evidence that they already found. In all seriousness, many Muslims have no problems with evolution. Approximately 45% of all Muslims worldwide accept evolution according to Pew Research Center.

Qur'an 16:9[edit]

It is for God to point out the paths, but some of them are flawed. Had He willed, He could have guided you all.

Qur'an 16:9 Notes[edit]

Allah loves to remind us that he does not want all of us to be guided. Also, some of us are flawed, but Allah chose to make us in this flawed state without fixing us. This seems strange when Allah claims in other verses to have created humans and jinn for the sole purpose of worship.

Qur'an 16:10[edit]

It is He Who sends down for you from the sky water. From it is drink, and with it grows vegetation for grazing.

Qur'an 16:10 Notes[edit]

Allah claims credit for a natural phenomenon by showing a surface-level understanding of it once again.

Qur'an 16:11[edit]

And He produces for you grains with it, and olives, and date-palms, and grapes, and all kinds of fruits. Surely in that is a sign for people who think.

Qur'an 16:11 Notes[edit]

I fail to see that sign. It must be somewhere in the proof that Allah was the one who did these. The grains, olives, date palms, and grapes are all demonstrable, but Allah is not shown to be their creator. He just asserts that smart people think and believe in him without explaining anything in detail.

Qur'an 16:12[edit]

And He regulated for you the night and the day; and the sun, and the moon, and the stars are disposed by His command. Surely in that are signs for people who ponder.

Qur'an 16:12 Notes[edit]

This wording seems like the night and the day are distinct entities and not just the result of the relative positions of the sun and the earth. Allah could have worded this to say that he specifically placed the sun and the earth in a way that would have our current day-night cycle. This would be closer to reality, though he does still need to prove that he chose that himself and has the power to enact his choices.

Qur'an 16:13[edit]

And whatsoever He created for you on earth is of diverse colors. Surely in that is a sign for people who are mindful.

Qur'an 16:13 Notes[edit]

Wake up, babe! A new proof of Allah's creation story just dropped: COLORS!

Qur'an 16:14[edit]

And it is He who made the sea to serve you, that you may eat from it tender meat, and extract from it ornaments that you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, as you seek His bounties, so that you may give thanks.

Qur'an 16:14 Notes[edit]

Some fish are edible, but many fish are incredibly toxic to humans. Also, finding pearls and shells for ornamentation is not exactly an easy feat. Just ask anybody who was ever shipwrecked or caught in a vicious storm out at sea.

Qur'an 16:15[edit]

And he cast mountains on the earth, lest it shifts with you; and rivers, and roads, so that you may be guided.

Qur'an 16:15 Notes[edit]

Allah created roads to guide us instead of us humans building roads of all sorts throughout history. Also, geologists are still wondering how mountains prevent the earth from shifting with humanity, whatever that even means. The original verse in Arabic does not make more sense than this translation.

Qur'an 16:16[edit]

And landmarks. And by the stars they guide themselves.

Qur'an 16:16 Notes[edit]

Allah claims credit for natural landmarks, which were supposedly created just for people to know where they were.

Qur'an 16:17[edit]

Is He who creates like him who does not create? Will you not take a lesson?

Qur'an 16:17 Notes[edit]

Allah has not been shown to actually create. He is claimed to have created things, just like any other creator gods believed throughout history. These creator gods all have the exact same evidence for their existence, let alone their hand in creating literally anything at all.

Qur'an 16:18[edit]

And if you tried to enumerate the favors of God, you will not be able to count them. God is Forgiving and Merciful.

Qur'an 16:18 Notes[edit]

This verse says that "God is Forgiving and Merciful" in clear, unambiguous terms. Who wants to bet that, in this chapter as well, he promises to show no forgiveness or mercy to those filthy disbelievers suffering the worst agony possible?

Qur'an 16:19[edit]

And God knows what you hide and what you disclose.

Qur'an 16:19 Notes[edit]

He sure talks like he has no idea what his own disbelieving humans think deep down. Maybe he intentionally lied about them multiple times in a book which he claims to be truthful multiple times?

Qur'an 16:20[edit]

Those they invoke besides God create nothing, but are themselves created.

Qur'an 16:20 Notes[edit]

Those gods create everything that Allah created. The signs of this are exactly where we can find the signs of Allah's hand in creation. Not a single proof in this book applies to Allah specifically over any of those other creator gods, and Allah talks about these creator gods a lot to dehumanize the people who dare believe in them.

Qur'an 16:21[edit]

They are dead, not alive; and they do not know when they will be resurrected.

Qur'an 16:21 Notes[edit]

Allah is not real enough to have ever been alive, so calling him dead would be giving him too much credit.

Qur'an 16:22[edit]

Your God is one God. As for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, their hearts are in denial, and they are arrogant.

Qur'an 16:22 Notes[edit]

There we go! I knew that Allah would misrepresent us soon! Also, how can a heart be in denial? Hearts don't think.

Qur'an 16:23[edit]

Without a doubt, God knows what they conceal and what they reveal. He does not like the arrogant.

Qur'an 16:23 Notes[edit]

He should know that people are not actively concealing things in their heart and disbelieving out of arrogance.

Qur'an 16:24[edit]

And when it is said to them, “What has your Lord sent down?” They say, “Legends of the ancients.”

Qur'an 16:24 Notes[edit]

These all seem like legends and little else. Also, even in Muhammad's time, many of these tales were believed by ancient peoples.

Qur'an 16:25[edit]

So let them carry their loads complete on the Day of Resurrection, and some of the loads of those they misguided without knowledge. Evil is what they carry.

Qur'an 16:25 Notes[edit]

Allah literally claimed that he does not want them to believe. Are they evil for being amongst the unlucky crowd whom Allah has forsaken from before they were even born? Do they harbor any evil for being exactly as Allah created them with no ability to anything which Allah has not already predestined for them?

Qur'an 16:26[edit]

Those before them also schemed, but God took their structures from the foundations, and the roof caved in on them. The punishment came at them from where they did not perceive.

Qur'an 16:26 Notes[edit]

How many verses ago did Allah call himself "Forgiving and Merciful" again?

Qur'an 16:27[edit]

Then, on the Day of Resurrection, He will disgrace them, and say, “Where are My associates for whose sake you used to dispute?” Those who were given knowledge will say, “Today shame and misery are upon the disbelievers.”

Qur'an 16:27 Notes[edit]

Reading this book and understanding most of the words here is torment enough, thank you. On the one hand, this book has some parts that I understand neither in the original Arabic nor in the English translations I've seen. On the other hand, this just speaks to the clear book which Allah has perfected and explained in detail. People can be proficient in Quranic Arabic and still wildly disagree on many details of this book.

Qur'an 16:28[edit]

Those wronging their souls while the angels are taking them away—they will propose peace: “We did no wrong.” Yes you did. God is aware of what you used to do.”

Qur'an 16:28 Notes[edit]

Allah forced them beyond their nebulous concept of anything like free will to do wrong.

Qur'an 16:29[edit]

Enter the gates of Hell, to dwell therein forever. Miserable is the residence of the arrogant.

Qur'an 16:29 Notes[edit]

Since this book loves reminding people, "God is Forgiving and Merciful" again.

Qur'an 16:30[edit]

And it will be said to those who maintained piety, “What has your Lord revealed?” They will say, “Goodness.” To those who do good in this world is goodness, and the Home of the Hereafter is even better. How wonderful is the residence of the pious.

Qur'an 16:30 Notes[edit]

Dooming people to disbelieve and torturing them forever can be described for some reason as "goodness" while actually being "Forgiving and Merciful" to those subhuman heathens is not "goodness".

Qur'an 16:31[edit]

The Gardens of Perpetuity, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow, where they will have whatever they desire. Thus God rewards the pious.

Qur'an 16:31 Notes[edit]

Would any people who desire to see their families in heaven and not burning in the realm of eternal agony get what they desire? Would the humans who desire to see no humans suffering this infinite suffering without end get what they desire? Or would they themselves go to that same realm of eternal agony for daring to one-up Allah in being "Forgiving and Merciful" and desiring things that go against his ultimate desire for his own creations? According to other verses, such as those at the end of Al-Muttaffifīn (Chapter 83: The Defrauders) for example, believers will watch the denizens of Jahannam burn from their luxurious furnishings in Jannah and laugh at the very real suffering that they know will never end. Will everybody in heaven be a heartless sociopath?

Qur'an 16:32[edit]

Those who are in a wholesome state when the angels take them—will say, “Peace be upon you; enter Paradise, for what you used to do.”

Qur'an 16:32 Notes[edit]

Wholesome vibes include slaughtering infidels while reveling in their unending demise and abusing your own lifelong slaves. Muhammad lived an incredibly wholesome life and was known by his followers to be nothing but a compassionate leader.

Qur'an 16:33[edit]

Are they but waiting for the angels to come to them, or for the command of your Lord to arrive? Those before them did likewise. God did not wrong them, but they used to wrong their own souls.

Qur'an 16:33 Notes[edit]

Allah did not wrong them, but he chose to seal their fates to infinite suffering and doom them to wronging themselves with the most horrific consequences for that.

Qur'an 16:34[edit]

So the evils of their deeds assailed them, and what they used to ridicule engulfed them.

Qur'an 16:34 Notes[edit]

This book sickens me with just how frequently it repeats the absolute worst parts of it. I complained earlier that I could not understand the book in its entirety, but I sincerely wish that I did not understand these horrors. I mainly left this religion because I understand them so well, but my hatred for this pure cruelty continues.

Qur'an 16:35[edit]

The idolaters say, “Had God willed, we would not have worshiped anything besides Him, neither us, nor our ancestors, nor would we have prohibited anything besides His prohibitions.” Those before them did likewise. Are the messengers responsible for anything but clear communication?

Qur'an 16:35 Notes[edit]

What the messengers provided was anything but clear communication. Some parts, however, are clearer than the times when Allah states that he doesn't want all humans to believe and violates their free will to prevent them from doing that. Those idolaters are correct in this verse.

Qur'an 16:36[edit]

To every community We sent a messenger: “Worship God, and avoid idolatry.” Some of them God guided, while others deserved misguidance. So travel through the earth, and see what the fate of the deniers was.

Qur'an 16:36 Notes[edit]

Why does anyone deserve misguidance? Allah cannot say that those people deserved it because they rejected the guidance. According to this verse, they were never given that guidance to reject. Instead of explaining this nonsense in detail, Allah tells his believers to simply assume the reason behind several destroyed and abandoned cities while providing no evidence that this was ever the reason.

Qur'an 16:37[edit]

Even though you may be concerned about their guidance, God does not guide those who misguide. And they will have no saviors.

Qur'an 16:37 Notes[edit]

Allah is telling people to stop caring about those who were never guided because... they misguided others and thus don't deserve guidance themselves? They were never guided by Allah to know that they were transgressing against their master and misguiding others. They were never given guidance to reject and dishonor in the first place. Other translations specify that they were destined to deviate, but Allah was the one who destined them away from the truth. What is even happening here?

Qur'an 16:38[edit]

And they swear by God with their most solemn oaths, “God will not resurrect anyone who dies.” Yes indeed, it is a promise binding on Him, but most people do not know.

Qur'an 16:38 Notes[edit]

What evidence would these people even have to support the possibility of resurrection? Also, how can any promise be binding on Allah?

Qur'an 16:39[edit]

To clarify for them what they differed about, and for the faithless to know that they were liars.

Qur'an 16:39 Notes[edit]

The faithless would have to spread falsehoods and mislead people on purpose for them to be considered liars. If they have no idea that they are liars, then are they really liars in the first place?

Qur'an 16:40[edit]

When We intend for something to happen, We say to it, “Be,” and it becomes.

Qur'an 16:40 Notes[edit]

Here is my response after seeing the evidence of this claim:

Qur'an 16:41[edit]

Those who emigrate for God’s sake after being persecuted, We will settle them in a good place in this world; but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if they only knew.

Qur'an 16:41 Notes[edit]

If they only knew... Is that code for "I know that this is unbelievable, but I will say it so that people will believe the unbelievable."

Qur'an 16:42[edit]

Those who endure patiently, and in their Lord they put their trust.

Qur'an 16:42 Notes[edit]

Those people may face disappointment after falling and trusting nonexistent beings like Allah.

Qur'an 16:43[edit]

We did not send before you except men whom We inspired. So ask the people of knowledge, if you do not know.

Qur'an 16:43 Notes[edit]

Who exactly are the people of knowledge? People of all beliefs can claim to know what they sincerely believe and do not doubt.

Qur'an 16:44[edit]

With the clarifications and the scriptures. And We revealed to you the Reminder, that you may clarify to the people what was revealed to them, and that they may reflect.

Qur'an 16:44 Notes[edit]

Reflecting on this book, I found that it was horribly unclear in many areas and clearly evil on others. Thanks for clarifying those parts, Allah. Thanks for clarifying the worst parts of your book and leading me to leave this religion.

Qur'an 16:45[edit]

Do those who scheme evils feel secure that God will not cause the earth to cave in with them, or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?

Qur'an 16:45 Notes[edit]

Allah once again threatens disbelievers and accuses them of evil scheming.

Qur'an 16:46[edit]

Or that He will not seize them during their activities? And they will not be able to prevent it.

Qur'an 16:46 Notes[edit]

The threat continues to the next verse.

Qur'an 16:47[edit]

Or that He will not seize them while in dread? Your Lord is Gentle and Merciful.

Qur'an 16:47 Notes[edit]

The threat continues to the next verse again, but this verse pairs the threat with a reminder that "Your Lord is Gentle and Merciful" for those who see Allah as a sadistic overlord.

Qur'an 16:48[edit]

Have they not observed what God has created? Their shadows revolve from the right and the left, bowing to God as they shrink away.

Qur'an 16:48 Notes[edit]

They have not observed that the big dictatorial ruler of reality itself did any creating.

Qur'an 16:49[edit]

To God bows down everything in the heavens and everything on earth—every living creature, and the angels, and without being proud.

Qur'an 16:49 Notes[edit]

Disbelievers are too prideful to even count as living creatures, apparently. Also, how are people supposed to see that a boulder or an iceberg prostrate to anyone or have any ideas and feelings of any sort ever? The original wording in Arabic does not specify that this applies to living things only.

Qur'an 16:50[edit]

They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded.

Qur'an 16:50 Notes[edit]

Did this same god command mosquitoes to spread malaria and become the deadliest animals in the world if counting them for malaria deaths?

Qur'an 16:51[edit]

God has said: “Do not take two gods; He is only One God; so fear only Me.”

Qur'an 16:51 Notes[edit]

This verse just comes off as insecure.

Qur'an 16:52[edit]

To Him belongs everything in the heavens and the earth; and to Him obedience is due always. Do you, then, fear anyone other than God?

Qur'an 16:52 Notes[edit]

Allah does not exist. However, Muhammad is very likely to have existed, whether his Quran and Hadith depictions were accurate or not. Muslim conquerors, tyrants, and slave traders definitely existed and have given people to fear them.

Qur'an 16:53[edit]

Whatever blessing you have is from God. And when harm touches you, it is to Him that you groan.

Qur'an 16:53 Notes[edit]

I consider my life after leaving Islam to be filled with blessings that have everything to do with leaving the religion behind.

Qur'an 16:54[edit]

But when He lifts the harm from you, some of you associate others with their Lord.

Qur'an 16:54 Notes[edit]

This is because he fails to prove that he was the reason why this harm was lifted. Another factor is that Allah could have prevented that harm outright and chose to let it occur.

Qur'an 16:55[edit]

To show ingratitude for what We have given them. Enjoy yourselves. You will soon know.

Qur'an 16:55 Notes[edit]

This verse claims that the disbelievers simply do not know. Are they really considered ungrateful for sincerely not believing that Allah gave them these blessings in the first place?

Qur'an 16:56[edit]

And they allocate, to something they do not know, a share of what We have provided for them. By God, you will be questioned about what you have been inventing.

Qur'an 16:56 Notes[edit]

Lacking the faith and confidence to say I know something which I seriously doubt is apparently a bad thing.

Qur'an 16:57[edit]

And they attribute to God daughters—exalted is He—and for themselves what they desire.

Qur'an 16:57 Notes[edit]

Who does that? Also, with how outlandish this book can be, is Allah having a daughter of any sort really outlandish for any reason other than blatant sexism?

Qur'an 16:58[edit]

And when one of them is given news of a female infant, his face darkens, and he chokes with grief.

Qur'an 16:58 Notes[edit]

This is specifically referring to people who are themselves sexist enough to hate and even end their own daughters. This may not be as widespread these days, but it happens.

Qur'an 16:59[edit]

He hides from the people because of the bad news given to him. Shall he keep it in humiliation, or bury it in the dust? Evil is the decision they make.

Qur'an 16:59 Notes[edit]

Misogyny is evil, especially if it is extreme enough to cause parents shame for ever having a daughter.

Qur'an 16:60[edit]

Those who do not believe in the Hereafter set a bad example, while God sets the Highest Example. He is the Mighty, the Wise.

Qur'an 16:60 Notes[edit]

Is he... lumping disbelievers in with people who hate and even kill their own daughters?

Qur'an 16:61[edit]

If God were to hold mankind for their injustices, He would not leave upon it a single creature, but He postpones them until an appointed time. Then, when their time arrives, they will not delay it by one hour, nor will they advance it.

Qur'an 16:61 Notes[edit]

Everybody, even believers, is abysmal and deserves utter destruction, but Allah is "Merciful" to those who believe and only those who believe. Also, which bar is Allah using to measure humanity and saying that everybody is below it? Why is it so high in the first place, or why are his human creations all beneath it?

Qur'an 16:62[edit]

And they attribute to God what they themselves dislike, while their tongues utter the lie that theirs is the goodness. Without a doubt, for them is the Fire, and they will be neglected.

Qur'an 16:62 Notes[edit]

I dislike torture, especially endless torture. I dislike the notion that people in heaven will laugh at the victims of endless torture. I also dislike punishing entire societies for crimes committed by some members of it. I am not the one who attributed these to Allah. The one who did that... is Allah himself!

Qur'an 16:63[edit]

By God, We sent messengers to communities before you, but Satan made their deeds appear alluring to them. He is their master today, and they will have a painful punishment.

Qur'an 16:63 Notes[edit]

Allah made them susceptible to Satan's temptations and refused to give them the guidance to even know that any of their deeds were wrong in the first place.

Qur'an 16:64[edit]

We revealed to you the Scripture only to clarify for them what they differ about, and guidance and mercy for people who believe.

Qur'an 16:64 Notes[edit]

Why do so many sincere believers have such wildly differing opinions regarding scripture? Hint: This book does the opposite of clarifying.

Qur'an 16:65[edit]

God sends down water from the sky, with which He revives the earth after its death. In this is a sign for people who listen.

Qur'an 16:65 Notes[edit]

The earth... dies and comes back to life with rain... how many fields of science would be greatly affected by this miraculous revelation. This does not make sense as a metaphor because the surrounding context does not suggest a metaphorical interpretation here and Allah seems to say this to show what he literally does in reality.

Qur'an 16:66[edit]

And there is a lesson for you in cattle: We give you a drink from their bellies, from between waste and blood, pure milk, refreshing to the drinkers.

Qur'an 16:66 Notes[edit]

This is yet another verse that causes lots of confusion because a plain surface-level reading suggests that this book is wrong about basic biology. Have people ever seen the blood, cud, and milk of any cows ever? If their milk is similar to blood or cud in any way other than its presence in cows, then... it is not refreshing to drinkers. Also, did Allah make the cows lactate for humans to drink their milk? WHAT?!?!?!

Qur'an 16:67[edit]

And from the fruits of date-palms and grapevines, you derive sugar and wholesome food. In this is a sign for people who understand.

Qur'an 16:67 Notes[edit]

These foods can be sweet. This must be a miracle from Allah!

Qur'an 16:68[edit]

And your Lord inspired the bee: “Set up hives in the mountains, and in the trees, and in what they construct.”

Qur'an 16:68 Notes[edit]

Bees are finally mentioned 68 verses in a chapter with 128 total verses. Why is this chapter called "The Bee" when the first mention of bees is more than halfway into it? Disappointingly, this also means that 60 verses remain.

Qur'an 16:69[edit]

Then eat of all the fruits, and go along the pathways of your Lord, with precision. From their bellies emerges a fluid of diverse colors, containing healing for the people. Surely in this is a sign for people who reflect.

Qur'an 16:69 Notes[edit]

This is one of the more accurate scientific miracles, and even then, this is hardly a miracle when people had been observing these bees and getting honey from them for centuries before Muhammad was even born. Also, not all honey is healthy, though it can definitely be healthy for a lot of people.

Qur'an 16:70[edit]

God created you; then He takes you away. Some of you will be brought back to the worst age, so that he will no longer know anything, after having acquired knowledge. God is Omniscient and Omnipotent.

Qur'an 16:70 Notes[edit]

The chapter named after bees has 128 verses. Bees get only... 2 of them. I decided to point this out here because this verse is not even worth the effort to annotate it. Either way, I both love and hate that bees have 21 out of 27 verses of the chapter literally named after them.

Qur'an 16:71[edit]

God has favored some of you over others in livelihood. Those who are favored would not give their properties to their servants, to the extent of making them partners in it. Will they then renounce God’s blessings?

Qur'an 16:71 Notes[edit]

People are supposed to give their servants partial owner of their property... is that right? This, at the very least, implies that these servants are people and not property themselves. The original verse in Arabic literally describes these "servants" as human property. This verse also needs clarification, especially for the Muslim slave holders throughout history and even to this day.

Qur'an 16:72[edit]

God has given you mates from among yourselves; and has produced for you, from your mates, children and grandchildren; and has provided you with good things. Will they then believe in falsehood, and refuse God’s favors?

Qur'an 16:72 Notes[edit]

Not everybody wants to mate. Not everybody wants or should be in a relationship. Plus, some people are naturally infertile or make for bad parents. Lifelong partners and children are people and not just gifts from Allah. This mentality is sadly prevalent in many societies today and is one of the main reason why Muslims have considerably higher birth rates than the general population.

Qur'an 16:73[edit]

And yet they serve besides God what possesses no provisions for them in the heavens, nor on earth, nor are they capable.

Qur'an 16:73 Notes[edit]

Allah has given no real evidence that these provisions in the earth are actually from him, let alone the existence of a heaven in the afterlife.

Qur'an 16:74[edit]

So do not cite the examples for God. God knows, and you do not know.

Qur'an 16:74 Notes[edit]

Allah constantly refuses to let humanity know.

Qur'an 16:75[edit]

God cites the example of a bonded slave, who has no power over anything; and someone to whom We have given plentiful provision, from which he gives secretly and openly. Are they equal in comparison? All praise belongs to God, but most of them do not know.

Qur'an 16:75 Notes[edit]

Allah created both of them and predestined everything about both of their lives. Allah acknowledges that they are naturally unequal and somehow deserves praise for this inequality.

Qur'an 16:76[edit]

And God cites the example of two men: one of them dumb, unable to do anything, and is a burden on his master; whichever way he directs him, he achieves nothing good. Is he equal to him who commands justice, and is on a straight path?

Qur'an 16:76 Notes[edit]

This verse was written by a frustrated slave owner and not an all-powerful god.

Qur'an 16:77[edit]

To God belongs the unseen of the heavens and the earth. The coming of the Hour is only as the twinkling of the eye, or even nearer. God has power over everything.

Qur'an 16:77 Notes[edit]

This verse was released some time in the 600s and the current year is 2024 as of the writing of this annotation. How long does an eye take to twinkle?

Qur'an 16:78[edit]

God brought you out of your mothers’ wombs, not knowing anything; and He gave you the hearing, and the eyesight, and the brains; that you may give thanks.

Qur'an 16:78 Notes[edit]

He gave us a lack of proof for our eyes and ears to actually see. He gave us brains capable of questioning the claims of this book and seeing how they could be so wrong. Allah knew how most of his creations would use their senses and mental faculties before even creating them, so the reason why he went through with the act of creation is not for us to kiss up to him infinitely.

Qur'an 16:79[edit]

Have they not seen the birds, flying in the midst of the sky? None sustains them except God. In this are signs for people who believe.

Qur'an 16:79 Notes[edit]

We have seen birds and understand how their wings interact with the air around them. We have not, however, seen the hand of Allah in any forces acting on any bird.

Qur'an 16:80[edit]

And God has given you in your homes habitats for you, and has provided for you out of the hides of livestock portable homes for you, so you can use them when you travel, and when you camp; and from their wool, and fur, and hair, furnishings and comfort for a while.

Qur'an 16:80 Notes[edit]

Why do people spend so much time and effort building safe, livable homes when Allah already went through the effort to make them livable and portable?

Qur'an 16:81[edit]

And God has made for you shade out of what He has created, and has given you resorts in the mountains, and has given you garments to protect you from the heat, and garments to protect you from your violence. Thus He completes His blessings upon you, so that you may submit.

Qur'an 16:81 Notes[edit]

Allah created a sun that can give people heat stroke and skin cancer, especially in large deserts like the areas where Muhammad lived. However, he also created shade in some of these places so that people could have some partial relief from his own dangerous sun. Also, people only have clothes because Allah gave them to us. He even made everything look like it was put there unintentionally by natural phenomena that are far from even caring about this specific species living on this specific pebble in a vast galaxy in an incomprehensible universe.

Qur'an 16:82[edit]

But if they turn away, your only duty is clear communication.

Qur'an 16:82 Notes[edit]

Muhammad failed that duty given how unclear this book can be.

Qur'an 16:83[edit]

They recognize God’s blessing, but then deny it, as most of them are ungrateful.

Qur'an 16:83 Notes[edit]

We earnestly disbelieve. This statement is demonstrably false. The vast majority of Muslims would disagree with this verse, including myself back when I believed. Why does the creator of each and every disbeliever refuse to talk about his creations truthfully in a truthful book?

Qur'an 16:84[edit]

On the Day when We raise up a witness from every community—those who disbelieved will not be permitted, nor will they be excused.

Qur'an 16:84 Notes[edit]

This threat does not work on sincere disbelievers. Allah has acknowledged that people can sincerely disbelieve before, so why does he refuse to do so when threatening them with infinite suffering?

Qur'an 16:85[edit]

When those who did wrong see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.

Qur'an 16:85 Notes[edit]

This can only serve to scare people into submission at the expense of their emotional or mental health while also getting sincerely good people to hate their fellow brethren for the horrid offense of staying unconvinced by the lack of tangible evidence. Repeated verses like this demonstrably cause far more harm than they cause good. People should not act like moral, upstanding Muslims out of fear of infinite torture and nothing else. This is its own form of abuse.

Qur'an 16:86[edit]

And when the idolaters see their associates, they will say, “Our Lord, these are our associates whom we used to invoke besides You.” They will strike back at them with the saying, “Surely you are liars.”

Qur'an 16:86 Notes[edit]

The threats are only weakened by ridiculous scenarios.

Qur'an 16:87[edit]

On that Day they will offer their submission to God, and what they had invented will abandon them.

Qur'an 16:87 Notes[edit]

The Merciful will surely accept and show them mercy, right?

Qur'an 16:88[edit]

Those who disbelieve and obstruct from God’s path—We will add punishment to their punishment, on account of the mischief they used to make.

Qur'an 16:88 Notes[edit]

This chapter should just be called "The Ridiculous Threat" and not just "The Bee" because these ridiculous threats get way more verses. This title fits way too many verses in this book, but Allah is the one who chose to make this a central theme in his book. I wonder why disbelievers get ridiculous threats, dehumanizing misrepresentations, and contradictions regarding Allah's role in our disbelief. Could the reason have anything to do with this book of truth being an obvious pack of lies?

Qur'an 16:89[edit]

On the Day when We raise in every community a witness against them, from among them, and bring you as a witness against these. We have revealed to you the Book, as an explanation of all things, and guidance, and mercy and good news for those who submit.

Qur'an 16:89 Notes[edit]

Of course, this "guidance" and "mercy" are only for those who submit. How would people without guidance possibly deserve their lack of guidance?

Qur'an 16:90[edit]

God commands justice, and goodness, and generosity towards relatives. And He forbids immorality, and injustice, and oppression. He advises you, so that you may take heed.

Qur'an 16:90 Notes[edit]

Muhammad's atrocities are not considered immoral. Skepticism and intellectual honesty are considered immoral.

Qur'an 16:91[edit]

Fulfill God’s covenant when you make a covenant, and do not break your oaths after ratifying them. You have made God your guarantor, and God knows what you do.

Qur'an 16:91 Notes[edit]

Some untrustworthy fellow who commands immoral atrocities tells me that I have a specific covenant with his god in particular. I have to follow him because this god happens to be the one true god with infinite power and knowledge. This dubious prophet claims to speak the almighty god's truth while making obvious mistakes and dehumanizing those who don't accept his tall tale. Can we trust him when we have no real evidence of any covenant with a questionable god? How would this guy know our covenant any more than we would even if we did somehow make a covenant and have no recollection or receipts?

Qur'an 16:92[edit]

And do not be like her who unravels her yarn, breaking it into pieces, after she has spun it strongly. Nor use your oaths as means of deception among you, because one community is more prosperous than another. God is testing you thereby. On the Day of Resurrection, He will make clear to you everything you had disputed about.

Qur'an 16:92 Notes[edit]

If anybody here is using oaths as a means of deception among people, it would probably be the maniacal warlord who wants people to stop asking questions and obey him. The one who commands others to literally kill and enslave people in the name of some unproven deity and threatens skeptics with unspeakable horrors is far more likely to use anything and everything as a means of deception to keep his servants obedient. This religion would not be nearly as huge as it is now if Muslims only understood this message and knew the history of this cult. To be far clearer than this book, I am not saying that Muslims are dumb or blind to the truth. I used to be a Muslim for decades before realizing that Islam could not possibly be the truth.

Qur'an 16:93[edit]

Had God willed, He would have made you one congregation, but He leaves astray whom He wills, and He guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.

Qur'an 16:93 Notes[edit]

This repetitive books loves to remind people that Allah wants to leave most people astray and give them no hope of salvation from his own horrific torture realm.

Qur'an 16:94[edit]

And do not use your oaths to deceive one another, so that a foot may not slip after being firm, and you taste misery because you hindered from God’s path, and incur a terrible torment.

Qur'an 16:94 Notes[edit]

This book's contradictions and impossibilities does that to so many apostates.

Qur'an 16:95[edit]

And do not exchange God’s covenant for a small price. What is with God is better for you, if you only knew.

Qur'an 16:95 Notes[edit]

Can we find any evidence of such a covenant outside of unreliable scripture?

Qur'an 16:96[edit]

What you have runs out, but what is with God remains. We will reward those who are patient according to the best of their deeds.

Qur'an 16:96 Notes[edit]

I have the patience to deal with this nonsense book. Does that count for anything?

Qur'an 16:97[edit]

Whoever works righteousness, whether male or female, while being a believer, We will grant him a good life—and We will reward them according to the best of what they used to do.

Qur'an 16:97 Notes[edit]

Translation: "If you believe in this great reward without believing, then you too get to enjoy it! Just stay obedient and follow Allah's idea of righteousness and this reward is yours!"

Qur'an 16:98[edit]

When you read the Quran, seek refuge with God from Satan the outcast.

Qur'an 16:98 Notes[edit]

We need refuge from the wrathful deity who created Jahannam, made it the realm of limitless suffering that this book mentions ad nauseam, dictated a moral system where disbelievers deserve an eternity in Jahannam, made the majority of humans to ever live incapable of believing, promises to fill Jahannam with them, and uses their infinite agony as part of the reward for obedient servants whom Allah chose not to doom.

Qur'an 16:99[edit]

He has no authority over those who believe and trust in their Lord.

Qur'an 16:99 Notes[edit]

Neither he nor the mysterious lord have the undisputed evidence of their existence.

Qur'an 16:100[edit]

His authority is only over those who follow him, and those who associate others with Him.

Qur'an 16:100 Notes[edit]

This verse seems to talk about polytheists who, knowingly or otherwise, worship Satan as a god. I wonder what he has to say about those who don't believe in a literal Satan or any gods in any religions instead.

Qur'an 16:101[edit]

When We substitute a verse in place of another verse—and God knows best what He reveals—they say, “You are an impostor.” But most of them do not know.

Let a man have his fun. This might be cringe in 2024, but I don't care. This book is more cringe and dated.

Qur'an 16:102[edit]

Say, “The Holy Spirit has brought it down from your Lord, truthfully, in order to stabilize those who believe, and as guidance and good news for those who submit.”

Qur'an 16:102 Notes[edit]

Truthful messages don't contradict each other and constantly threaten people for simply not accepting it.

Qur'an 16:103[edit]

We are well aware that they say, “It is a human being who is teaching him.” But the tongue of him they allude to is foreign, while this is a clear Arabic tongue.

Qur'an 16:103 Notes[edit]

This is addressing the idea that someone was giving Muhammad, an illiterate man who seemed to only speak Arabic, knowledge of other religions and cultures in secret. This fails to account for someone who actually speaks Arabic and knows about these other beliefs. This also fails to account for the very real possibility that Muhammad was not even illiterate as most Muslims believe. Either way, this does not clear Muhammad's name and prove that he is getting truth supernaturally. This especially does not prove that Muhammad got messages from Allah and not any devils who mixed some truth with some clear lies and moral atrocities. On a serious note, this possibility was what ultimately destroyed my faith. I had no way of proving that my beliefs were entirely based in truth when, according to the Quran, demons would want to corrupt the Quran and deceive people with these corruptions.

Qur'an 16:104[edit]

Those who do not believe in God’s revelations—God will not guide them, and for them is a painful punishment.

Qur'an 16:104 Notes[edit]

This further compounds on my point. Allah refuses to guide them because they disbelieve. They don't disbelieve because Allah chose to deprive them of guidance. Then again, Allah is not consistent and clear about this throughout the entire book.

Qur'an 16:105[edit]

It is those who do not believe in God’s revelations who fabricate falsehood. These are the liars.

Qur'an 16:105 Notes[edit]

Translation: "People who have no idea what the truth even is can still intentionally lead people away from the truth."

Qur'an 16:106[edit]

Whoever renounces faith in God after having believed—except for someone who is compelled, while his heart rests securely in faith—but whoever willingly opens up his heart to disbelief—upon them falls wrath from God, and for them is a tremendous torment.

Qur'an 16:106 Notes[edit]

I initially sought to understand this religion more. I opened my heart to Allah and used my mind because Allah goes on and on about the smart thinkers see the truth in Allah's claims. This is ultimately how I reached the possibility that this religion could be false. I was no coward and also sincerely believed that an honest pursuit of the truth would lead to Islam being an undeniable truth. I chose to face my doubts head-on instead of simply ignoring them. I apparently wronged myself and became "whoever willingly opens up his heart to disbelief" according to this book, but I treated this message as the unassailable truth that would still shine through.

Qur'an 16:107[edit]

That is because they have preferred the worldly life to the Hereafter, and because God does not guide the people who refuse.

Qur'an 16:107 Notes[edit]

I did that because I preferred a strong understanding of the truth and sincerely believed at the time that all honest pursuits to the truth would lead to Islam.

Qur'an 16:108[edit]

It is they whom God has sealed their hearts, and their hearing, and their sight. It is they who are the heedless.

Qur'an 16:108 Notes[edit]

Allah chose to seal my heart and the hearts of countless other believers, dooming us to apostasy and eternal torture. Allah made us heedless when we sincerely believed and felt an unshakeable faith. Did this despot really shake our faiths because we lived with the confidence that our faiths were unshakeable? Give me a break!

Qur'an 16:109[edit]

There is no doubt that in the Hereafter they will be the losers.

Qur'an 16:109 Notes[edit]

I severely doubt that. People who act out of nothing but love for Allah and actually treat their religion as the truth can still have their unshakeable faith shaken to its core? These people get the absolute worst agony possible?

Qur'an 16:110[edit]

But then your Lord—for those who emigrated after being persecuted, then struggled and persevered—your Lord thereafter is Forgiving and Merciful.

Qur'an 16:110 Notes[edit]

Don't give me that "Forgiving and Merciful" bullඞඞඞඞ and promise merciless punishment in the same truthful message!

Qur'an 16:111[edit]

On the Day when every soul will come pleading for itself, and every soul will be paid in full for what it has done, and they will not be wronged.

Qur'an 16:111 Notes[edit]

Allah claims to be the supreme authority and claims that his choices to seal the hearts of any of his creations to force them to deserve Jahannam is good. They were not "wronged" when Allah created them and predestined them to inevitably suffer forever.

Qur'an 16:112[edit]

And God cites the example of a town that was secure and peaceful, with its livelihood coming to it abundantly from every direction. But then it turned unappreciative of God’s blessings, so God made it taste the robe of hunger and fear, because of what they used to craft.

Qur'an 16:112 Notes[edit]

Allah uses this cookie cutter for so many tales while refusing to prove the actual reason behind these ruins. People can travel the world and see destroyed towns as they please, but do the ruins contain any definitive proof that Allah caused their destruction at all, let alone that he caused their destruction for this specific reason?

Qur'an 16:113[edit]

A messenger from among them had come to them, but they denounced him, so the punishment seized them in the midst of their wrongdoing.

Qur'an 16:113 Notes[edit]

Which towns have this undeniable evidence?

Qur'an 16:114[edit]

Eat of the lawful and good things God has provided for you, and be thankful for God’s blessings, if it is Him that you serve.

Qur'an 16:114 Notes[edit]

People would hear this and think it to be no more true than the kids claiming that they could eat a moon made of cheese. The evidence is the exact same.

Qur'an 16:115[edit]

He has forbidden you carrion, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and anything consecrated to other than God. But if anyone is compelled by necessity, without being deliberate or malicious, then God is Forgiving and Merciful.

Qur'an 16:115 Notes[edit]

"But if anyone is compelled by necessity, without being deliberate or malicious, then God is Forgiving and Merciful."
So why do disbelievers, who are compelled by Allah to not know the truth, not get to see the "Forgiving and Merciful" side of the god who knows that they sincerely disbelieve "without being deliberate or malicious" accord to this "Forgiving and Merciful" overlord in his own book?

Qur'an 16:116[edit]

And do not say of falsehood asserted by your tongues, “This is lawful, and this is unlawful,” in order to invent lies and attribute them to God. Those who invent lies and attribute them to God will not succeed.

Qur'an 16:116 Notes[edit]

People notice the sheer lack of evidence for the outlandish claims of the Quran and naturally reason that Muhammad chose to "invent lies and attribute them to God" for his own personal gain.

Qur'an 16:117[edit]

A brief enjoyment—then they will have a painful punishment.

Qur'an 16:117 Notes[edit]

I hope that this awful prophet Muhammad had his brief enjoyment before his painful punishment. I actually don't hope that, but he's dead now and left no evidence of a soul that persists after death.

Qur'an 16:118[edit]

For those who are Jews, We have prohibited what We related to you before. We did not wrong them, but they used to wrong their own selves.

Qur'an 16:118 Notes[edit]

Allah predestined their fates and forced them to wrong themselves "without being deliberate or malicious" in any of those situations. To those retorting by claiming that they could very well have been deliberate or malicious, Allah was the one who predestined everything. Allah created them in such a way that they would say and do bad things. Allah could have altered reality to prevent every bad thing from ever happening while maintaining the free will of his creations and ensuring a world without any suffering. Allah could have altered his own moral system so that nobody ever deserves infinite punishment for anything. Allah instead chose to make a world exactly as it is now and complains about it in his own book.

Qur'an 16:119[edit]

But towards those who do wrongs in ignorance, and then repent afterwards and reform, your Lord thereafter is Forgiving and Merciful.

Qur'an 16:119 Notes[edit]

Allah chooses to deliberately keep them in ignorance according to his own truthful message. They have no idea that they should repent to a being who, by all accounts, seems fictional to them in the first place to avoid impossible consequences for imaginary crimes. Allah effectively bars them from ever seeing the forgiveness and mercy which he constantly mentions.

Qur'an 16:120[edit]

Abraham was an exemplary leader, devoted to God, a monotheist, and was not of the polytheists.

Qur'an 16:120 Notes[edit]

That apparently matters when Allah is as insecure as he makes himself look in his own book.

Qur'an 16:121[edit]

Thankful for His blessings. He chose him, and guided him to a straight path.

Qur'an 16:121 Notes[edit]

Allah is such a nice god for doing something that he finds to be literally effortless and spare him from infinite torture when he could just as easily not even create a torture world in the first place.

Qur'an 16:122[edit]

And We gave him goodness in this world, and in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.

Qur'an 16:122 Notes[edit]

And he deliberately gatekeeps humanity, though the source backing these fairy tales contradicts itself on this point constantly.

Qur'an 16:123[edit]

Then We inspired you: “Follow the religion of Abraham, the Monotheist. He was not an idol-worshiper.”

Qur'an 16:123 Notes[edit]

A being with infinite knowledge and power would need to be as infinitely insecure to even care.

Qur'an 16:124[edit]

The Sabbath was decreed only for those who differed about it. Your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection regarding their differences.

Qur'an 16:124 Notes[edit]

People were somehow wicked for disagreeing about some ambiguity regarding some perfected revelations along undeniable evidence. They mysteriously continue to find some details of these revelations confusing or ambiguous.

Qur'an 16:125[edit]

Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good advice, and debate with them in the most dignified manner. Your Lord is aware of those who stray from His path, and He is aware of those who are guided.

Qur'an 16:125 Notes[edit]

He deliberately chose that when he created this world. How would he not know what he did? Then again, he constantly misrepresents those whom Allah has chosen to misguide, so who knows?

Qur'an 16:126[edit]

If you were to retaliate, retaliate to the same degree as the injury done to you. But if you resort to patience—it is better for the patient.

Qur'an 16:126 Notes[edit]

This sounds incredibly rich from Allah and also Muhammad.

Qur'an 16:127[edit]

So be patient. Your patience is solely from God. And do not grieve over them, and do not be stressed by their schemes.

Qur'an 16:127 Notes[edit]

Translation: "You have no reason to worry about them if they disbelieve. They chose it for themselves and deserve the opposite of mercy even from Allah the Most Merciful. Also, patience is good because Allah commanded it for you. Everything good in this world must come exclusively from Allah."

Qur'an 16:128[edit]

God is with those who are righteous and those who are virtuous.

Qur'an 16:128 Notes[edit]

He is also the reason why this category does not include all of this tyrant's creations.
