Talk:Celibacy
Shame we don't link to WP as their list of sexually active popes makes interesting, though perhaps voyeuristic, reading.--Bobbing up 16:56, 5 October 2008 (EDT)
New sections normally go at the bottom, don't they?[edit]
The article certainly could do with improvement. I've just corrected several obvious grammatical errors which should not be in a bronze level article. Proxima Centauri (talk) 10:53, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
Celibacy != not having sex[edit]
No, Celibacy is foreswearing being in a relationship. **Chastity** is foreswearing sexual contact. Roman Catholic priests were originally required to be *celibate*, ie *not* *in* *a* *relationship* (ie married) to prevent church property being inherited by the priest's (legitimate) offspring.
Roman Catholic teachings want everybody to be *chaste* because Roman Catholic teachings hate the idea of people having sex.
Should so much be taken out without giving a reason?[edit]
This type of edit could damage the wiki. Proxima Centauri (talk) 20:13, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

- Any chance you could go a week without whining about editors you don't like, Proxima? Theory of Practice "the standards of the site are ultimately an expression of the community makeup, and not a set of rules or policies." 20:18, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Can I just be 5, and say "go away". --GodotWhat is your fucking defense of automatic guns, again? 20:42, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Being an adult and explaining why you took so much out would be better. Proxima Centauri (talk) 21:12, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
- Because "improvement" doesn't mean "leaving everything in tact and just adding yet more". Relatively little useful content was actually outright removed. theist 22:54, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
Abstinence[edit]
"It is distinct from abstinence because the choice to be celibate is an intentional act done for personal growth rather than external rules or lack of opportunity". I thought some people also abstain when they are able to have sex, but don't want to contract STDs or get pregnant. Landmartian (talk) 15:43, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
Incel[edit]
Do incels really exist? I think not, since there are three billion people of the opposite sex in this world, many of whom are just as desperate to get laid as the self-described incels. It's just a matter of lowering one's standards enough. It's similar to how almost all jobless people can find work if they're willing to work for a low enough wage in shitty enough conditions. Unless you're quadriplegic, you can probably both find work and get laid. Landmartian (talk) 02:44, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
What do you mean stunt sexual development?[edit]
What on earth is "sexual development"? Temp username (talk) 06:10, 10 February 2022 (UTC)
