Talk:David Sereda
Comment[edit]
David Sereda has himself performed very substantial edits to this page today. Is this allowable? Ithaca8 (talk) 19:53, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- It's not ideal. I've undone his edits & asked him to comment here instead. WěǎšěǐǒǐďMethinks it is a Weasel 20:14, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. It's very possible that some of his edits are genuine corrections. However, it certainly is not true that the Migmatron was a He3 device. It was H-B (hydrogen-boron) see this, p.30. Ithaca8 (talk) 21:25, 12 September 2014 (UTC)
This page cast doubt on Dave's claim to have planted 1.3 million trees, based on calculations of "one (tree) per half hour", which shows little knowledge of reforestation work, so I deleted the comment. I know Dave from when he worked for Zanzibar Reforestation in British Columbia (http://zanzibar.ca/) Dave was a "highballer", meaning a high production planter. A highballer in BC can plant anywhere from 500 - 2,000 trees PER DAY, depending on the soil and conditions. It usually takes less than 5 seconds to plant a single tree. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_hQnXNfns4 to see how trees are planted. Guy Lacelle in the video (also a famous ice climber) talks about planting a million trees in his career, and he spent a lot of time as a foreman. I personally planted approximately 800,000 trees over 8 years, based on an average of 1,000 trees/day and about 100 planting days per season. I have little doubt that Dave has planted 1.3 million, as back when when I knew him he had planted close to a million. Anyone doubting Dave's claim should call up Zanzibar with the number on the contact page for their website, and ask Tony about Dave Sereda and what he thinks about his 1.3 million tree "claim". I don't know about the other mystical stuff Dave talks about, but his tree planting numbers are legitimate. Bc-skier (talk) 08:09, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
