Ze Arigo[edit]
Has anyone ever heard of Ze Arigo? He's a Brazilian who apparently did surgeries using very simple tools, such as penknives and scissors. I've been searching for a debunking, but I only got James |Randi, which doesn't really say anything. Would seem like a good article for Rational wiki.
- Martin Gardner discusses him at some length in Science: Good, Bad, Bogus. Overall that's a pretty good book -- collects many of Gardner's essays and book reviews from the late 60s and 70s, mostly on paranormal research and the Human Potential Movement. It is to be noted that Arigo was pretty bad about keeping details straight and had a habit of lying like a shoe salesman with a foot fetish about his means of support.
