Gigantopithecus was not 3 meters tall (9.9 feet) and 500 kg (1100 pounds). I do not know why this is commonly repeated on a lot of websites, considering that it was already downsized to 200 to 300 kg (440 to 660 pounds). I think that it may have been a bit bigger at 500-700 pounds, but that is just an estimate. We do not have nearly enough fossils to make a proper size estimate for the ape. With that weight, it was probably around 2 to 2.44 meters tall (6.5 to 8 feet). Gorilla beringei graueri (talk) 00:57, 13 August 2021 (UTC)
