Talk:Jungle music
Lets see, this is a right wing racist term for African-American music? Wow. You had better recheck your sources. SHahB Life is tough, but I'm tougher, and I pity the foo'. 19:43, 14 June 2008 (EDT)
- Okay, I'll lose the wingnuttery category. Now that you mention it, it seems a bit OTT anyway. EVDebs 19:49, 14 June 2008 (EDT)
- I thought jungle music = d&b. SHahB Life is tough, but I'm tougher, and I pity the foo'. 19:50, 14 June 2008 (EDT)
- You've never discussed music with any racist old white guys then. "Jungle music" is one of the nicer terms that gets used. In any case, I can't imagine using the term around a black person in the US wouldn't get you, at the very least, a nasty look, no matter what sense you meant it in. EVDebs 19:56, 14 June 2008 (EDT)

In the UK, jungle music means drum & bass music, or some variant of it, & isn't racist at all. The racist use of "jungle music" as a pejorative for R&B/rock & roll is a throwback to the 50s. I guess maybe it might still be in usage among elderly rednecks somewhere. Anyway, it would take a more detailed article to cover the different uses of this phrase, & it doesn't seem relevant enough to be worthwhile. We don't cover every racist slur & stereotype individually. I say delete this one. WẽãšẽĩõĩďMethinks it is a Weasel 22:14, 14 February 2011 (UTC)
