Talk:Murder of Seth Rich
Email exchange[edit]
The alleged email exchange between Butowsky and Hersh has been removed due to poor sourcing. Both of the referenced articles that mention the email exchange attribute it to an article from alt-right website Big League Politics. CowHouse (talk) 05:01, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

Multiple independent forensic analysts have pointed out that the data-transfer speed during the 'DNC hack' matched the transfer speed of a thumb drive; much faster than the DNC's internet connection speed. Ray McGovern has been interviewed many times as a representative of the group of former US intelligence officers: Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, that (to quote the article) "Key among the findings of the independent forensic investigations is the conclusion that the DNC data was copied onto a storage device at a speed that far exceeds an Internet capability for a remote hack." This proves that the 'DNC hack' was an internal leak. The contents of the 'DNC hack' were published by WikiLeaks, so the founder of WikiLeaks implying Seth Rich, a DNC staffer, was the leaker, carries a lot of weight. Moreover, Assange's statement did not put Seth Rich at risk because he was already dead. After Assange's statement on Seth Rich, the former chair of the DNC, Donna Brazile, stated that Seth Rich's burial was connected to the 'DNC hack', going on to state that she felt under threat every day, and had to install security systems in her house. This implies that Donna Brazile feared assassination, in connection with the 'DNC hack', in the context of burying Seth Rich. The most prevalent competing explanation is that Russia stole the files over an internet connection, and I have not heard any other suspects implicated, despite two years of investigation. Therefore Seth Rich is the only possible culprit of the 'DNC hack', and by process of elimination, he leaked the DNC's files to WikiLeaks. This probably explains why so many people think he was responsible. As an unrelated side note - the CIA supervisors of Project Hive also had a stake in the 2016 general election, and the capability to mimic Russian malware. It was rather silly how immediately after the election, Russian ISP (Tele2?) offered full-cooperation to the FBI whereas the DNC completely denied the FBI access to their server. The FBI had everything they needed to trace uncover the location of the hacker/leaker, and given the current political climate, I assume they have shown all of the evidence of a Russian hack that they could collect. And then the 'Russia-investigation' turned into a Stein-investigation, and a Trump-investigation, and literally anything except actual election fraud. There are 2016 general election officials admitting to election fraud, but the lens is still on Russia. It's a dead meme. @Jaydogg1994 Feel free to debate rationally instead of defaulting to McCarthyism & deletion. Ray McGovern received the Intelligence Commendation Medal so it is far-fetched to dismiss him as a Russian propagandist. This article needs to address and/or debunk Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity's findings rather than cherry picking the weak arguments while censoring out concrete evidence. 67.193.200.23 (talk) 01:22, 19 July 2018 (UTC) Here are the relevant timestamps from two of Ray McGovern's interviews: [1] [2] 67.193.200.23 (talk) 01:35, 19 July 2018 (UTC)
