"Brother Nathanael" blocked me cause I asked him about this:

I wrote a email to one of the churches BN claims to have been ordained by and they said:

"I received your inquiry with regard to Kapner(BN). I do not believe that he was tonsured or ordained in any way. A novice traditionally receives blessing from an abbot to reside in a monastery and learn about monasticism, which I don't believe is the case with him.

Since the United States guarantees free speech, there is little we can do beyond admonishment" Also on their website is the following statement:

Statement from the Chancery of the Synod of Bishops

The Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia has recently received repeated complaints about the activities of and statements made by a certain Nathanael (Kapner), who lives on the territory of the Western American Diocese, but has no relation to it. The clergymen and laity of the Russian Church Abroad are hereby informed that the actions of Nathanael (Kapner) do not have the blessing of the Synod of Bishops. Profoundly saddened by the state of his soul, we call upon Nathanael (Kapner) to refrain from posting on the Internet, to a life of repentance of peace in Christ, "where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all" (Colossians 3:11). +KYRILL, Archbishop of Western America and San Francisco Secretary of the Synod of Bishops. This wiki page is problematic because it reads like obvious propaganda against Brother Nathanael...Is Brother Nathanael something like a Russian Orthodox "Reverend" Al Sharpton, the latter who began calling himself a reverend when his mother traipsed him around revival circles as child, but had no formal seminary training then or later on? ... And does anyone know where Brother Nathanael lives, if not as a novice in a monastic setting?...Finally did Brother Nanthanael actually convert to Russian Orthodoxy? In one of his comments, under a video, he answered a question explaining that he, his sister and mother converted to Russian Orthdoxy (I'm thinking the conversion, which would have included a baptism that was recorded, on paper or computer, into church documents, would have been in the Boston area where he claimed he first walked into a Russian Orthodox Church and felt spiritually at home). THANKYOU FOR ANY HELPFUL ANSWERS! Entered 12/23/13 — Unsigned, by: 76.118.49.67 / talk / contribs

I don't like the bit about the gay adult chat card. It seems easily like the sort of thing people could have made up, seems unnecessarily bitchy and belongs more on Encyclopedia Dramatica than RationalWiki. 94.8.123.121 (talk) 10:34, 1 April 2015 (UTC)
