I don't think the definition is correct. Many plants do not use photosynthesis or chorophyll, I think (many algae, eg). I think the definition is more along the lines of "rigid cell walls" or some such? Some better could be here perhaps. ħumanUser talk:Human 21:10, 5 December 2008 (EST)

Cyanobacteria also photosynthesize, but they are bacteria and not plants. Imarcuson (talk) 02:13, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Revision[edit]

I just rewrote a fair section of the introduction to better define plants, as indeed, not all plants undergo photosynthesis. Likewise, most of what we think of as plants fall under ferns or seed plants, and a description thereof would leaf out quite a few species, like mosses. In what I hope is a clarification, I also added a section on categorization of plants to make up for this. I'm under the impression that most of the information there is not in need of a citation, being generally agreed upon for quite a long time now (and laziness, let's not forget laziness), but feel free to request or add them if you disagree. I'm also considering the addition of a section discussing plant evolution or structures, as my current footnote about chloroplasts seems insufficient somehow. Also, as true to our mission, perhaps a section rebuking the standard things said by creationists about plants would be valid, and a better spot for the final joke.

And I just noticed that my cookie apparently wore off when I was editing, so it went under my current IP instead. I don't suppose there's a way to fix that? SardonicMouse (talk) 18:01, 5 August 2010 (UTC)

Neurology?[edit]

I read somewhere a "dr" saying that plants have kind of a consciousness too. What do you think? Woo woo? Gianga23 (talk) 08:11, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
