McNeill's excellent book Something New Under the Sun, which has almost 300 (extensively footnoted) pages on pollution, so I'll get to work on boiling it down to five paragraphs for this article. - I think it is. Pollution is the subject most actively downplayed by non-environmentalists. A brief article summarizing the vast impact pollution has on the environment, and, more importantly, on human lives (400,000+ a year dead from air pollution, for example) would be a good first step towards countering that attitude.
