Mission[edit]

Before I stick a mission template on this does the creator have a rationale as to why this meets our three stated missions? - π 06:43, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

The Clash is awesome. Nuff said. Ace McWickedThe Liquid Room 06:52, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Umm, I just thought it would be a good article to start out on, since I really didn't expect this much response (and yes, I know 'this much' isn't much at the moment, but I really didn't expect anyone to care). Also, the Clash get mentioned quite a bit on here, and opinions are mixed about their being leftist/rightist. So I thought an article on them would be a good way to start. If I messed up, I can just slink away... - Nobby 16:12, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

I've added some stuff, and I'd like to know if people think I could maybe change the bit on Ivan Meets G.I. Joe; the way it's presented in the song is actually pretty negative, with the whole thing seeming (for me) to be angry unhappy at the way Russia and especially the U.S. were treating possible nuclear Armageddon as a game (although postapocalyptic stuff is fun, it's not THAT fun.). Just my (rather wordy) two cents. Nobby 17:08, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
I'll just take that one back out.. Secret Squirrel 17:12, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
It is actually looking better than when it started, and we have articles on paul McCartney and James Taylor somewhere... Totnesmartin 17:17, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
And truth be told, I don't think the Clash had a right-wing bone in their bodies - songs like "Red Angel Dragnet" and "Hate & War" were clearly ironic while "The Guns of Brixton" is an expression of militant leftism and "Rock the Casbah" criticizes Islamic states on liberal rock & roll grounds, not fundamentalist Christian grounds. But Aschlafly listing a Clash song as a greatest conservative song isn't the only example of their militance being misunderstood by the right. National Review as mentioned misinterpreted them as some sort of Tory answer to Woodstock Nation back in the day. Secret Squirrel 17:22, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, I thought I got rid of that 'fact' tag. I'll polish this up soon. Nobby 23:35, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

Okay, that's fixed. Seems like interest has died down, anyhoo. --Nobby 22:39, 5 May 2009 (UTC)
That happens round here. Something shows up in Recent Changes and people jump on it, then it all dies down again. Totnesmartin 08:46, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
