2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

I feel that this is a concept that gets brought up a lot, and needed a page of its own.Pyrite (talk) 21:33, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Yes - a proper page done by someone who know what they are writing about, not something that is barely longer than a dictionary entry.--ZooGuard (talk) 19:42, 19 March 2015 (UTC)

Limited view[edit]

As it now stands, the article gives a limited, pop-culture, pejorative view of tribalism. I think it is a mistake to equate tribalism with chauvinism right at the outset. In anthropological terms, tribalism may be contrasted with civilization. So-called "civilized" people can be as chauvinistic as the proudest tribal zealot, if not more so.

In modern times, some people speak of "finding your tribe" among the patchwork of diverse people who make up the social milieu. For example, the tribe of Stéphane Grappelli fans may be compared to the larger, more diffuse tribe of Monty Python fans. MaillardFillmore (talk) 22:37, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

I added some words in attempt to remedy that. Also some links in other articles, so this one is not an orphan any more. It is still a stub... MaillardFillmore (talk) 14:32, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
