Template talk:Infobox
Would you mind if this was renamed? Infobox is a bit generic & might be wanted as a core template (with other templates copied from WP) later. I'm asking before it's used anywhere. (Toast) and marmalade 20:29, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- I don't really mind. But we could make it a catchall. --"ConservapediaSubwayResistorGoatspeed! 20:36, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- As it stands, you couldn't: it's rather specifically about RW editors. What's needed is a base template that lets you fill in the headings as well as the content and only shows those that are used. What you've got here would then use that template to make this one. Not explained very well but I know what I mean. (And it uses the "class" as the name - not best practice) (Toast) and marmalade 20:46, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- Plz explain in more detail. And if you go

|date of birth=1999
Then it won't show anything else. --"ConservapediaSubwayResistorGoatspeed! 20:51, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- CUR can you explain why we need this and what you want it to do. - User 20:55, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- This can do ANYTHING. It can give at-a-glance info on atheism, RationalWiki, ASchlafly, goats, the theory of relativity, etc. if you let me modify it enough. --"ConservapediaSubwayResistorGoatspeed! 21:01, 5 February 2009 (EST)
It will show all the blank lines thus: (Toast) and marmalade 21:06, 5 February 2009 (EST) {{Infobox|dateCP=1999}}
{{|}}

CUR: For each line put something like:
{{#if:{{{dob|}}}| {{!}}-date of birth {{!}}{{{dob}}}}}
That'll miss out unused lines

- You're having fun there Pi! (Toast) and marmalade 21:21, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- No because I am wasting time fixing another of CUR's stupid ideas. As far as I can tell parser function will always return as false for a blank string. - User 21:23, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- I happen to know it won't. The taxobox over at WP has about 200 possible strings, but normally only about 10 are displayed. So it is possible. And I was originally going to fix it. And something this versitile can't be a stupid idea. --"ConservapediaSubwayResistorGoatspeed! 21:25, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- There is such a thing as too versatile and it is most defiantly stupid. - User 21:27, 5 February 2009 (EST)

- The taxobox needs a degree in Higher Math to understand. This is just a port of RWW's silly Stalkbox. (Toast) and marmalade 21:29, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- I can understand the taxobox. Give me a few years, and I can copy it. But I can understand it. Just not copy it. --"ConservapediaSubwayResistorGoatspeed! 21:33, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- I have a degree in higher maths and I can't follow that. It must have taken about 5 people several hours to build. - User 21:31, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- Hurray I got it to work. I will make a few tweaks and the CUR you can go nuts. - User 21:32, 5 February 2009 (EST)

To answer your question CUR because you commented the entire page out. To comment go <!--Shit you don't want people to see.--> - User 21:41, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- Notice - not a wikitable in sight!
- Wikitables look the same for everyone, html and div tags don't. - User 21:46, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- Just thinkin': it might be easier to use html tables - saves all that {{!}} stuff? (Toast) and marmalade 21:51, 5 February 2009 (EST)
- It probably would be, but do you want to teach CUR html? - User 21:54, 5 February 2009 (EST)
