Template talk:Merged
Wouldn't this be better smaller & off to the right, It's only of academic interest once the merge has been done? Apart from the history thing of course. ContribsTalk 16:26, 10 October 2008 (EDT)
- Yes. Go for it. We've already established that I don't know how to do the tinkering with box sizes & stuff. weaseLOId~ 16:27, 10 October 2008 (EDT)
Human experiments[edit]
I need to be able to save and stuff and I don't want to break the live template.
Eh, never mind, I can only do this with a live parameter to test properly. The link should go to the history of the old page. Right now it doesn't even have "redirect=no" on it, so it's a bit clumsy. ħuman 21:14, 10 October 2008 (EDT)
OK. I made it link to the "history" of the "old" article. One bug - spaces in the article name have to be replaced with underscores. Also, I note that the orthodox church article was not merged properly, it was moved? So it's not even a merge, so why bother using the template there? ħuman 21:26, 10 October 2008 (EDT)
- I've obviated(!) the need to replace spaces with underscores. There's a parser function ( {{urlencode:foo bar}} ) that does the trick autmagically. ContribsTalk 10:00, 11 October 2008 (EDT)
{{merged|User talk:SusanG}} note no underscore produces this box
which links beautifully to the history. ContribsTalk 10:33, 11 October 2008 (EDT)
- Susan, awesome, that underscore thing was real ugly. Weasel, if you go to the history of orthodox church you'll see what I mean - there's nothing there. Somewhere along the line the process got fubared. Oh well. ħuman 15:08, 11 October 2008 (EDT)
- What I said above: I merged content from "Eastern Orthodox Church" (which was a stub) to "Eastern Orthodox" because that was the larger article at the time. I then moved the finished article to "Eastern Orthodox Church" as I prefer that as a title. This was before anybody had expressed any demand to see the full history of both articles, & the only process I was following was the one I had devised myself! There's no history to "Eastern Orthodox" because that's the article that was moved. If you need to see the original stub version of "Eastern Orthodox Church", just click on the 'view deleted edits' bit at the top of the history page. weaseLOId~ 15:20, 11 October 2008 (EDT)
- Ah, I see. Anyway, there's no need for the template at EOC then, since it doesn't really "mean" anything. ħuman 16:33, 11 October 2008 (EDT)
