Hey, I gender neutrified the text, hope no one minds. humanbe in 15:23, 30 July 2007 (CDT)

I was just looking at this template I made, and I am very glad that Human made it gender neutral! I'm all for using the term "they" (as opposed to the bulky 'he/she' phrase), even though hardcore grammar police might get mad at me =P . However, i think that i'll change "they aren't" to "they're not", because it more closely coresponds to the the original lyrics and it sounds better (in my opinion). I doubt anyone will take offence, but if you do, yell at me via my talk page =) -- ♠ ŖєuĻєəux ♠say wнäτ? 17:05, 3 August 2007 (CDT)

How about:

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."

Keepthem coming. 17:29, 3 August 2007 (CDT)

I liked the change from 'they aren't' to 'they're not'; I for one also do not object to simply quoting the song. I added quotes to your example above, btw. I do like how it flows and wraps better. Now, if we could get a cirrussy blue sky background for the text... humanbe in 18:49, 3 August 2007 (CDT)
I am not opposed to having a template with a direct quote of the song, but I also think that having one that refers to the speaker as "this user..." is good because it goes with all other userboxes. OBVIOUSly, however, these variants are not mutually exclusive! I think i'll make one called "Template:user_lennon2" with a direct quote, because it's a good idea.

As for the sky blue background....i think that is a swell idea too! The only reason it is a deep red is because, when i was originally crafting this userbox for use on my page (the first page it was on), i already had a bunch of blue userboxes, LOL! I hope no one minds if I switch it to a nice shade of sky blue (and i emphasize 'nice', i'm not going for a straight up 255 cyan or something =P). I am very pleased that my userbox of a very peaceful guy with a very peaceful message is getting so much attention =) HOWEVER.....at the moment, it is past 2 am and i am tired, so i will have to get to the color-hunting for the perfect blue tomorrow. By the way, if anyone, ANYONE, decides that they just can't WAIT to see the new blue, and i have not changed it, please do so! less work for me (grins). I will, however, make a "lennon2" template right now with the direct quote on it. (If someone finds a good sky blue color before I do, please change the lennon2 color as well!) Thanks to everyone! -- ♠ ŖєuĻєəux ♠say wнäτ? 01:27, 4 August 2007 (CDT)

I tried #bdf for the background (you need a bit more green than red to get "skyish"). And #008 for the text, a dark blue. Please check it on your monitors to make sure it looks good. humanbe in 13:19, 4 August 2007 (CDT)
's OK, but I've done it green on my page - I'm a bit green myself (that's green as in newbie and as in environmental ) KeepOUT 13:30, 4 August 2007 (CDT)
I like that, too. Why not change the main template so's we are all in solidarity using the same one? Or, we coudl havea choice of six versions, hehe. That's more Lennonesque anyway, right? Fifty acorns tied in a sack! humanbe in 13:39, 4 August 2007 (CDT)

Anything from any song's good - see my upge. Keepon truckin' 14:11, 4 August 2007 (CDT)

Excellent! Maybe we should have a lennon-random box that uses the random feature and has several such pithy lines? humanbe in 17:43, 4 August 2007 (CDT)

Instead of having Template:user_lennon3 have a "insert he or she here" option, i'm just going to change the original userbox to be able to have "he" or "she" in there, instead of "they". -- ♠ ŖєuĻєəux ♠say wнäτ? 10:13, 9 August 2007 (CDT)
