2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

The atheist's nightmare might refer to:

The crackers are a reference to the Eucharist. Together, these things keep atheists up at night.

The atheist's nightmare is a term for the above two arguments made against evolution. It derives from the title of the video that explains why peanut butter disproves evolution and a quip made by Ray Comfort before explaining the teleology of a banana. While "the atheists' nightmare" was seemingly used seriously by the arguments' proponents, it was quickly appropriated by skeptics and online snarkers to mock the sheer ridiculousness of the arguments.
