On being unexpectedly Sysopped

Truly appreciative of the honour and all that, but I really just like chipping in from time to time and shun authority and responsibility like the plague. Sure you can find somebody far more deserving, industrious, and rational.

Tylersboy (talk)16:20, 26 January 2011

There is zero responsibility and almost no authority in sysoppry.

Sure there is! You have to, erm... well... and you can... well you get to mark things as "patrolled" if you want.

Scarlet A.pngnarchist18:51, 26 January 2011

It is always doing that automatically, which looks strange in the logs. Unicow marks things patrolled without asking me.

Unicow (talk)18:57, 26 January 2011

Your own edits are automagically marked as patrolled by you.

Blue (is useful)19:05, 26 January 2011

True, and IIRC you also automatically mark edits as patrolled if you edit the page yourself after an patrolled edit.

Scarlet A.pngnarchist19:26, 26 January 2011

No. Except rollbacks

Oh. I must have misread something else.

I wrote a script that adds a [mark as patrolled] link to recent changes. It uses ajax, and makes marking things patrolled extremely easy (if you use popups, of course).

Ah, but you're Lumenos! You are a paranoid lunatic don't do scripts, do you.

Blue (is useful)19:10, 26 January 2011

OMG! Did you google?!?!? You didn't google did you?!?! I think you googled.

You call me a lumatic yet how do you explain that my edit history comment does not show up on my watchlist when it is clearly in the edit history. Damn. Busted! Whooaa.

Your little magic powers are no use against pure lumenation. Surrender now and we will show you mercy.

Unicow (talk)22:56, 26 January 2011

It has been pretty obvious since you showed up. Now it is even more so. What else do you keep in that lumen of yours?

You can see deleted pages, but most importantly it is a sign of social status, like having extra fourarms.

Unicow (talk)18:55, 26 January 2011

The fact that I don't even understand most of what comes after "It is always doing that automatically . . ." suggests to me that I'm far better off remaining in my humble station.

Tylersboy (talk)23:51, 26 January 2011

Wow, I go to bed for 6 hours and wake up to an entire talkpage full of discussion. I feel special.

You are now the highest ranking politician, Si... err Chief.
