Just passed the Oglala tribal headquarters on my way to Montana and Idaho to fish and then on to Portland. I think Pine Ridge is coming up soon. Gorgeous country here.
But there are no fish in Portland. Vegan strip clubs and hipsters, but no fish.
On Pine Ridge? It's a divine area. The Black Hills, the spiritual homeland, as it were even more so. I know why they call the rocks sacred; you look into them, and see so many faces, or images of animals staring back at you, the way nature has weathered those rocks.
When you drive through the "bad lands", it's like both stark and vividly alive at the same time.
Good luck with the fish, by the way. I love to "fish". it's in quotes, cause i put my poll in the water, drag on the line abit, and my head goes off into neverland. not sure what i'd do if i ever hooked an actual fish.
