Roch "Moïse" Thériault (May 16, 1947 – February 26, 2011) was a cult leader from Québec, Canada who lived in seclusion with his followers (Mostly his wives, concubines, and children) in Gaspésie, Québec until his first arrest in 1984 then Burnt River, Ontario. Much like David Koresh, he splintered from the Seventh Day Adventists and set up in the wild and considered himself a prophet.
However what brings him above other cult leaders was that he wasn't just some crazy guy saying the world was about to end and that his followers had to separate themselves from society. He was the cult leader equivalent to an alcoholic abusive husband who beats, abuses, and rapes his wives then appologizes and swears he'll never hurt them or drink again. He also preached that only he had the power to heal and even performed surgery on some of his followers, killing his favourite wife in the process, and later exhuming her body, trepaning her skull, and masturbating in it to bring life back to her bones.
