Vanished[edit]

Sorry, this category inexplicably vanished so I recreated it. --Let Them Eat Cake (talk) 13:17, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

You are probably looking for this.--JorisEnter (talk) 13:21, 2 August 2016 (UTC)
You're absolutely right, lol. --Let Them Eat Cake (talk) 13:39, 2 August 2016 (UTC)

Should we create Category:Rightists who turned left with age?[edit]

Surely some people with articles on this wiki would qualify. E.g., Barry Goldwater - never outright became a liberal, but ended up denouncing the Republican Party and supporting some liberal policies e.g. he became pro-choice, supportive of LGBT rights, and even becoming in favor of legalizing marijuana. Sounds like a good idea. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 12:56, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
It sounds like a great idea but no one's got round to doing it. Christopher (talk) 19:35, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
I know it's been years since this discussion was held, but if this category is ever made, we should probably add Elizabeth Warren to it.
I'm not up to date with Warren's views> What rightist views did she used to hold? --It's-a me, Lgm sigpic.png 🎄LeftyGreenMario!🎄 03:24, 10 November 2019 (UTC)
According to some of Warren's high school and college colleagues, her pre-2000s views were highly supportive of Laissez-faire economics and she herself stated she would affiliate with whichever party "best supported markets". In addition, she was a registered Republican until 1996 (yes, I know the GOP back then wasn't nearly as right-wing as it is now, but even in the mid-90s, the GOP was undeniably more right-wing than the Democrats were). - — Unsigned, by: 173.239.198.149 / talk / contribs 25 November 2019

Here is another person you should include on the list of Rightists who turn left with age. Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks was once a republican at one point before leaving the party.2601:640:C681:C260:B583:1A4:547E:62DE (talk) 23:37, 23 September 2021 (UTC)

Here is an article backing the claims of Elizabeth Warren moving from Right to Left politically. Elizabeth Warren is named as one of a few Right wingers who turned left along with Garry Willis, Joan Didion, Kevin Philips, Michael Lind and David Brock are some of the ones that moved from conservatism to Democrats.

New Left radicals turned on their former comrades and former selves in the Reagan years. Ronald Reagan, whose Presidency brought the movement to its high-water mark, was himself once a New Deal liberal. In the course of a lifetime, the prevailing political winds are westerly—they blow from left to right. Try to think of public figures who made the opposite journey: Elizabeth Warren, Garry Wills, and Joan Didion come to mind, and Kevin Phillips, the disillusioned Nixon strategist; more recently, the writer Michael Lind and the Clinton-hater-turned-lover David Brock defected from the right to the left. That’s about it.2601:640:C681:C260:31FE:1218:52F8:8094 (talk) 06:20, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
