The Greater Idaho movement is an activist effort from counties of Eastern Oregon Oregon to secede from Oregon and join Idaho. It has been approved by about 13 counties[1].

Why?[edit]

The state of Oregon is ran by members of the Democratic party, who control the offices of the Governor, the house, and the senate.[2] Now, this wouldn't be a big deal unless you are a member of the minority republican population. This means that many counties (mostly rural) that lean conservative feel as if they are not being represented fairly (even if the state government is elected democratically by the people to represent the people). As a result, they began a movement to simply secede from their state that they lived in on the basis of disagreeing with them.
