2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

psychiatric disorders such as bipolar and schizophrenia and anti psychotics are much to be desired. == Heading text == Education and Career He first studied an under graduate degree at the University of Queensland then went to medical school at the same institution. After this he then did his residency in Baylor College of Medicine. For a time he worked for the FDA.

Drug Critisisms[edit]

Benzodiazepines[edit]

Benzodiazepines (sometimes nicknamed benzos) are a class of drugs used to treat anxiety, insomnia and seizures, as well as ecstacy withdrawal (just ask Lou Reed). Such examples include: Valium (diazepam) and Xanax (alprazolam). Witt-Doerring has made some valid criticisms about the long-term usage of benzodiazepines, such as the possibility for addiction and dependance, however when used for short term periods the risk of this is far smaller.

Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors (SSRIs) and Other Antidepressants[edit]

Whilst Witt-Doerring has correctly stated that there is a link between increased suicidality and commencement of SSRIs.
