Patrick Porter is the founder of Braintap, PorterVision, and several other companies in the field of alternative medicine to sell devices that use biaurial beats, with strobe lights soldered to the inside of glasses or a visor. His PhD. in psychology is from the unaccredited Lousiana Baptist University in Shreveport. Dr. Patrick Porter differs from an unlicensed psychologist in that he was never able to apply for a license. He owns Quauntum University, where he controls the certification of the homeopaths that are being trained to sell more Braintap Headsets. Quauntum University alums, after their checks clear, are given Braintap headsets and are trained on how to use them to sell them. The headsets are made by a company listed on Alibaba for $20 and sold in the U.S. for $680 - $1000 with subscription plans on the App Store that bill clients long after they're gone. "The Braintap Library" was removed from app markets for providing no user software utility except for the billing of the credit card number on file until discovered by the first party/company/card holder(s).

Dr. Porter is well affiliated with the bio-hack community but with a special emphasis on the elderly and mentally ill. He was forced to stop selling and marketing Braintap to parents and children since epilepsy is often diagnosed in childhood using far less dangerous and approved methods of detection. The stobe lights are stated to be theraputic based on an algorithm only Dr. Porter knows but can't show you because it's in Russian. The "neuro-sensory alogrythm" is not contained in any component found in any of Dr. Porter's devices. The lights are triggered by a specific 4Hz tone hidden under the white noise in the background of the guided meditation recordings that users feel compelled to buy in order to "activate" the full health benefits of the device. The song "Ants Go Marching" by Dave Matthews Band also uses Patrick Porter's "patented neuro-sensory algorithm" too and pretty much anything with a snare drum in the beat.

According to the Lexus Nexus legal database, Braintap is a DBA backed by venture capital fund, Excel Management, registered in Delaware. Its headquarters are legally in Belarus, but there is a U.S. brick-and-mortar store located in New Bern, N.C.

Dr. Patrick Porter has also self-published four books on the topic of self-help with help from others.
