The State of Judea or Free State of Judea is a proposed Jewish state in the West Bank, put forward by Israeli Jewish settlers.

Since the PLO had declared Palestinian independence and a fourth of the United Nations recognized it, various Zionist cranks, notably Kahanists and Hilltop Youth feared that international pressure would lead to Israel's withdrawal from the West Bank and Gaza and sought to establish a Jewish state. The Judean Declaration of Independence was announced in a Jerusalem hotel on December 27, 1988, with Michael ben-Horin, a veteran right-wing Jewish supremacist, declared to act as it's President. A month after, 100s of Israeli activists threatened to set up the infrastructure of such a state if a Palestinian state is established. [1] [2] [3] [4] The Idea of a Free State of Judea or a similar annexation of Palestine was revived after the unilateral disengagement plan of 2005, which resulted in the forcible eviction of Jewish-Israeli settlers out of the Gaza Strip by the Israeli Defense Forces. In 2007, Chabad Rabbi Shalom Dov Wolpo suggested a Judean State in the West Bank in case of an establishment of a Palestinian state. [5]
