Essay talk:Karajou's "The Obsolete Man"
Another soon-to-be-classic waiting for side to side refutation
Reminds me more of Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "Help, help--I'm being oppressed!" Semi-seriously, this is SOP for the Christ-wingers these days: When they think they can get something they want, they proudly beat their chests about how this is a christian nation, founded by christians, with a christian majority, and so on. When they can't get something, it's because of the all-pervasive, omnipotent Evil Librul Conspiracy That Controls Everything. The fact that these two claims contradict each other is, of course, ignored. --Gulik 02:40, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

The true oppressor[edit]
An examination of the evidence of which "side" is more likely to try and stamp out the rights of the other "side" would show that its the conservative religious people in our country that are LOTS more willing to do this. I think a list of such examples might be interesting, but I am don't think this is the place, perhaps a seperate article. 24.141.169.255 13:03, 4 July 2007 (CDT)
Well, as I parse through this for the rebuttal, I realize what a freakin idiot the original author is. That is not an ad hominem statement...it is based on evidence.--PalMD-Goatspeed! 21:37, 4 July 2007 (CDT)
- We could compare block logs (you know after we've had RW2 opened for seven months. We'd better get busy Blocking if we want to beat their record. Right now totals are (drumroll please)

Just read this today[edit]
Interesting how many religions equate opression with not getting their own way, regardless of how much freedom and influence they already hold.. Given that Karajou has seen fit to illustrate this with images culled from a B-grade television programme, he should consider joining the Church of the SubGenius instead. "I see the future and the past in comic books...".
Pity that despite living in more enlightened times, those who seek to dictate to the rest of us how to live based on outdated books and tribal mentality are nowhere near obsolete. Attributing everything to sky pixies was probably fine back when the wheel was cutting edge but the world has moved on since then, both in terms of science and education. Pity some primitive superstitions persist. liessmokemirrors 08:03, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
- Yeah, but I totally dig Twilight Zone. Rod was a genius political commentator, managing to beat the cesors every time. Unfortunately, Kookoo couldn't be bothered to understand the episode.--PalMD-Goatspeed! 12:52, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
- No SubGenius membership for Kookoo then...XD liessmokemirrors 13:51, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
- Hey, as long as he can send in thirty dollars, he's welcome to join. His soul might end up in the Cylinders on X-Day, but that's a risk we ALL have to take.
- Semi-seriously, it amazes me how some people can straight-facedly compare "other people living their life in a way I don't like" with "slowly dying of malnutrition in a Soviet gulag." Whining crybabies. --Gulik 15:20, 5 July 2007 (CDT) (oops-must've timed out.)
