So any thoughts on academia.edu? To me it seems like a sort of weird concept, so far as I can tell just about anyone can submit a paper so it seems like it could attract a fair amount of pseudoscience. Does anyone actually know how accurate the papers published there are? Are you required to have your paper published in a reputable journal before you can upload to this site? I hope I am doing this right since I didn't want to add a new Section.
Academia.edu is a place where you / anyone can publish any material (fiction, analysis, research papers, position papers, etc) in any stage of completion (i.e. drafts to book chapters of an --elsewhere-- published work) of any kind of quality (i.e. "goodness" / "professionalism") by any kind of writer (I saw a basic English lit research paper by what I guessed was a high school student / some other works were VERY polished and done by professional writers) on any topic (there were grammar exercises on dangling modifiers next to some heavy duty post-modern theorizing...).
In terms of accuracy of the papers there...? I guess it's a crap shoot. Probably more crap than shoot!
