It has been remarked upon before, but I feel the need to get a definite sense of what, mob-willing, is to be done.
RationalWiki's article on Atheism is, in my opinion, in desperate need of work. The two main issues I see are the conflation of atheism with rationalism and theism with religion.
I think this needs to be fixed, as the article is central to the purpose of this wiki, and is frequently shown on the front page.
I am unsure of what else to say on the matter without further input. Thoughts, opinions, ideas? - Gameboy (talk) 18:38, 17 April 2011 (UTC)
- Can you try to be more specific? What sections of the article are problematic? Blue (is useful) 04:40, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
- I guess an example of the conflation of thiesm with religion is here. The fact that somebody might become dissatisfied with one religion or even all religions doesn't mean God doesn't exist. Personally I believe that religions are generally bad things and I also believe that god doesn't exist. But these are two separate beliefs. A "why people become dissatisfied with religion" section has no logical reason to be in the atheism article.--BobSpring is sprung! 07:41, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
- I agree with Mr. BobM that the disaffected with religion section should be moved.

- Sections of note include:
- Misconceptions about atheists, misconception of definition
- It may just be me and my
obsession withlove of clarity, but I think the tendency to conflate rationalism and atheism needs to be mentioned.
- Types of arguments for atheism
- This section is jumbled, full of bad arguments, and the conflation issues I mentioned before. It needs to be fixed/removed or... something.
- Atheism and American bigotry
- This one just comes out of nowhere. The article features sections of text, and then this chart just floats in the middle of it. I think it needs to be needs to be somehow integrated (maybe under the demographics section?) or removed. Also, if it is to be kept, I think it might be better to include other countries as well. The USA is not the only country with an opinion on this.
