I assume the board has "meetings" via Skype or similar. I'm not sure if my crappy broadband and elderly computer are up for that. SophieWilderModerator 11:12, 31 January 2014 (UTC)

We've used Skype and Google hangouts, but the format is flexible. Sterilesig.svgtalk 14:00, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
Oh OK then. SophieWilderModerator 15:26, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
You can get what looks like a really nice one for less than £8.
FYI to everyone on a few things. Just showing up to meetings has been a problem. Typical corporate boards of directors only handle higher level matters and supervise corporate officers. On the other hand, we've delegated to members some tasks that would otherwise be handled by corporate officers; I reckon Trent intentionally organized the RMF as a lean operation in order to avoid the "too many cooks in the kitchen" problem, although any board is going to have problems being agile. So, as a volunteer board, the RMF board is a little unusual in the sense that members must be proactive and do their homework or there's no point in participating. That's not necessarily more than a few hours here and there, with some of that dedicated to preparing for meetings, but you'd be spending more than £8 worth of your time. I think it's safe to say that a foundation pulling down four figures will probably require its Trustees to deal with more than 'higer level matters'. Surprisingly many non-profits are quite small and are driven primarily by their Boards and the help of volunteers. 216.166.7.140 (talk) 04:10, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Ordered one for #3.50. If it doesn't work I shall post frogs to your boss. SophieWilderModerator 21:26, 31 January 2014 (UTC)
I have one for about that much that lasted a sabbatical, has captured presentations, and lots more. It's a heck of a lot easier to have people talking than watching a screen and waiting for people to type. Sterilesig.svgtalk 02:41, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
But but but I'll have to do my hair! And... (gibbers in horror)... tidy up! SophieWilderModerator 12:09, 1 February 2014 (UTC)
Or just a microphone works too. Sterilesig.svgtalk 12:20, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

People I think you should vote for[edit]

I don't usually believe in campaigning over this important role, but let me take the time to say that Nutty and Sterile are invaluable assets to the Board, and the only people (excluding Trent) who seemed this last time to have the knowledge required to keep the Foundation afloat. This is not meant as a bash on the other members of the Board (and please don't take it as such), I just feel compelled to say that Sterile and Nutty are certainly incumbents who the Foundation would lose at its peril.
