RationalWiki talk:Annotated Bible/Psalm
The last edit (putting it in side-by-side) seems to have broken the page, although the other AB/ pages are OK. I've had a glance (edit here) but the page is so long it's hard to find which bit of wikicode is faulty or incomplete. Anyone else want to have a go? - These are actually tided into an extension, I wonder what causing that. - π 12:49, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- I think I can see it. - π 12:52, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- Psalm 100 is listed as (another) Psalm 1, & 101-109 are listed as 11-19. Might this duplication be what's screwing it up? WeaseloidMethinks it is a Weasel 13:10, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- I have just zapped it in an attempt to restore it can you resurrect it? - π 13:11, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- It's taking too long to parse. I'll try to figure out why. -- Nx / talk 13:14, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- I wish I had dumped the contents to a text file first. There was a missing at the end of the page. - π 13:16, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- Just let me do it. I'm a little busy with a problem that means we're going to get internal errors once we upgrade because PHP 5.3 is stricter about parameter parsing, and the mediawiki hook documentation was wrong when I wrote my extensions [1]. -- Nx / talk 13:20, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- On my home wiki it takes 17 seconds (!!) to render this page (and no, it's not caused by the lack of a closing table tag), and that's on a 3ghz core2. This page is simply too large - I don't know if it's the number of sections or the number of table cells or both. -- Nx / talk 13:28, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe we should break the page down. It is a book of poetry, it is not like it has to be one long narrative. - π 13:30, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- That would probably be a good idea, it's definitely the insane number of sections that's causing this, but It's also going to break the bible tag. -- Nx / talk 13:37, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- How fixable is that? - π 13:39, 9 May 2010 (UTC)
- The way it works is: <bible book="something" chapter=x verse1=y verse2=z/> gets the page called RationalWiki:Annotated Bible/<book>, then does some regexp to extract sections starting from "<book> <chapter>:<verse1>" to "<book> <chapter>:<verse2>". Fortunately, because it doesn't parse before the extraction, using the tag is not horribly slow. -- Nx / talk 13:48, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

For now, I've pasted the wikicode for a side-by-side version at RationalWiki:Annotated Bible/Psalm/Nowiki, in <nowiki> tags, so it doesn't break the page. When setting up the new pages (two pages of 75 psalms? three of 50?) please use this version rather than the deleted edit, as that had the numbering for some psalms mixed up & duplicated, which I've now corrected.
