2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Talk:AARP

Wikipedia mentions similar criticisms of them. I'm sure the same points can be made, in a different tone. (((Zack Martin))) 10:22, 3 July 2011 (UTC)

Er, yeah, not sure why the article seems to imply AARP is only about Medicare Part D. No doubt a massive screw-job, but they've been around since the '60s and do good things as well (like keeping Social Security from getting pawned off to Wall St.) Nebuchadnezzar (talk) 03:28, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
They seem schizophrenic to me. On the one hand, perhaps a decent lobbying group on behalf of "seniors". On the other hand, a group shilling for and selling their name to insurance companies, and lobbying "the bad way". ħumanUser talk:Human 07:58, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Donut hole[edit]

I'm not saying this article is on mission, but if it is on mission, can someone please add some detail about that "huge hole for seniors?" When I read a politically slanted RationalWiki article, I'd like to know what I'm supposed to be tsking about.--"Shut up, Brx." 20:44, 2 October 2014 (UTC)
