Talk:Alan Moore
[edit]
I don't see anything here that obviously relates to anything we usually talk about here. The only things that seem remotely close are his worship of an obscure Roman god (I thought he was into chaos magic, like the Scarlet Witch) and his having disowned the movie that gave rise to the Guy Fawkes mask meme. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 20:20, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
- I've given up. The "mission" has become so broadly-defined in practice as to be meaningless. If languages, small Caribbean nations, and employment policies are being written about as though they're missional, why not funny book writers? - Well, he's got that non-fiction book on magic with Steve Moore coming out. If anybody's willing to cover that, then the article could be turned around. Balaam (talk) 13:16, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

- This book of magic seems to have been in development for at least four years. Let's not hold our breath. Delete. SophieWilder 22:57, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- I've delete-tagged the V for Vendetta and Promethea articles, which are worse than this one. ΨΣΔξΣΓΩΙÐMethinks it is a Weasel 23:01, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- Agree, kill it. --Kels (talk) 23:05, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
- Since people are already saying to delete this, I've made it official and tagged it with the delete template. Some decent time perhaps ought to elapse, I suppose. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 04:19, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

comment I'd just pull the trigger myself, but I might be biased here. Between Killing Joke and Watchmen, among many others, I intensely dislike this fellow's comic book writing. He seems obsessed with violence against women, and I consider Watchmen a pointless attack on its own genre. Worst, he's one of the generation of British-import comic writers that emerged in the mid 1980s and started writing American superheroes under the assumption that they were ever so much cleverer than the people who actually thought up the patriotic characters in brightly colored tights, and that what they really needed to be interesting was to make them dark and pervy. - Smerdis of Tlön (talk) 04:19, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
- A friend lent me a copy of Watchmen when the movie was in production. I liked it. (I also liked the movie for the first, what, five minutes?) Not as familiar eith his other non-V work or the associated nerd rage. FWIW the article suffers from "So what?" syndrome. Burn it to the ground.. --Rakovsky (talk) 06:48, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
