What is bigamy can be roughly explained in a sentence (see the disclaimer in polygamy for example), so no separate article is necessary. And this stub fails to provide an adequate definition/explanation.--ZooGuard (talk) 07:03, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

That's probably why I wiped the article, left a redirect, and put all of the relevant material in the article on polyamory. Now who was it that undid all of that for no fucking reason?--Token Conservative (talk) 16:09, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Because both redirecting bigamy to polyamory and moving the "relevant material" there are wrong? And as I've pointed out above, there's no relevant material to be moved - the article fails to explain its subject.--ZooGuard (talk) 17:21, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
Yeah but see, where I had moved it, I did explain it. See how that works out? Do you see why just reverting everything is an idiotic thing to do?--Token Conservative (talk) 17:24, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
What exactly is the problem? I have undone only your merge of Polygamy and Bigamy into Polyamory, which you did with minimum discussion. If you look at Special:Contributions/ZooGuard, you'll find out that I've commented on RationalWiki:Duplicate articles#Merge with Polyamory, the only place where there was some kind of explanation within minutes of the revert.--ZooGuard (talk) 18:29, 12 May 2013 (UTC)

The point of polygamy (which in practice often means polygyny) is that it is 'theoretically legal/acceptable' to those involved.

The point of bigamy is that it is a legal concept in those places where you are supposed to be married/civil partnershiped to only one other person at a time (who has not been declared legally dead and where the marriage was not void from the start).

Apparently a writer to an 18th century magazine problem page stated his wife was also and previously married to someone who was already married - and wanted to know whether he was married to her or not (the agony uncle said he was). 171.33.222.26 (talk) 17:46, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

I believe the laws are against bigamy but the belief is about polygamy. Article needs help. Provide it and I'd argue keep. Hipocrite (talk) 16:18, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

Agreed...the biggest difference is (in America and other places) is that bigamy/polygamy are crimes, perpetrated by people who are committing fraud against the government (and possibly their spouses), whereas polyamory is a relationship arrangement. There are all sorts of considerations, such as who can claim whom on taxes and who is eligible for welfare, that enter into bigamy/polygamy that polyamorists never deal wtih. --Seth Peck (talk) 16:49, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

A joke[edit]

Groucho: “Well whadaya say girls? Are we all gonna get married? Woman: “All of us? But that’s bigamy!” Groucho: “Yes, and it’s big-a-me too.”

I think that's from Duck Soup. --TheLateGatsby (The end of the dock ) 19:57, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
