*sigh*[edit]

At the moment the article devotes many more bytes to the generic/legal meaning of the term than to the CTs' use of it, which was the original intent. (The CT use is what I meant by "the subject" in my edit summary comment.) CT-lovers generally don't have any understanding of the actual handling of classified material and are using the term in a more generic way.--ZooGuard (talk) 14:25, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

I believe that the 'generic' meaning of the term is just as valuable as the CT definition-- disclosure and secrecy are repeat themes in many, many conspiracy theories and it does deserve a place here. ±Knightoftldrsig.pngKnightOfTL;DRcritical thinking is the key to success! 14:35, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

A layout only a mother could love[edit]

This page is in dire need of some wiki formatting, sources, headlines, spacing, see also, external links, etc... it's just a huge text dump as of now. I'll do some polish on it but for any diligent editor out there - this one could use some work. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 15:47, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

I'd say it's almost worthy of a delete template. Beyond a dictionary definition it's just waffle. Scream!! (talk) 15:53, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
The current text is absolutely crappy, but the page itself needs to stay - it's not just a dictionary term but an established UFOlogy crank term. And besides, we don't even have an article on the Disclosure Project, on CSETI (not to be confused with SETI) or on Steven M Greer. It's an absolute atrocity that we don't, and we're overdue making articles on all this. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 16:08, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

Self-disclosure[edit]

Another aspect of disclosure, not yet treated in the article, is self-disclosure, particularly WP:Self-disclosure#Self-disclosure in therapy. It may be useful, or not. (Anecdotally, I fired my previous primary care physician partly because examinations included way too much telling me the story of their life, which is not what the doctor is paid to do.) CamelCasePragmatist (talk) 16:43, 8 August 2015 (UTC)

I don't directly see the fringe or crank side of that - I myself have had useful experiences with what I'd call this very vague "self-disclosure" in therapy. And besides, neither of us should let our personal emotional experience color things too much. I honestly think an outlink to the wikipedia section that you just gave right now would be sufficient to include in the page. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 17:14, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I don't have strong feelings about it one way or another. It's just that the current wall of text masquerading as an article seems mostly limited to the uses of "disclosure" in the context of information security and the tinfoil hat brigade, when it in fact is a term of art in several realms. I have no idea what a complete list of those realms might look like; I'd like to see some wider context established, is all.
Looking a bit further, it appears that WP:Disclosure is a disambiguation page. One interesting page is about Key disclosure law,Wikipedia which relates to the authoritarian part of the mission. I will add some outlinks in a minute... CamelCasePragmatist (talk) 17:29, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
The current page is in disaster condition, so don't spend too much time on polishing the existing text - it may be gone within a fortnight. The page itself seems bound for either a complete rewrite (e.g. as part of the UFO category) or massive restructuring either way. Reverend Black Percy (talk) 18:55, 8 August 2015 (UTC)
