2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Needs a section on associated woo, such as claims that structures made with it have magical properties, or that it was involved in the construction of the Egyptian pyramids, or whatever. I lack the knowledge to write it myself, though. - LucidFox (talk) 21:13, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Rebuttal to Creationism[edit]

Someone more knowledgeable than me should take on the quest of writing why the claim that 'the Golden Ratio is evidence for a Creator and Intelligent Design' is false. 189.61.220.19 (talk) 22:15, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

"claim"? Where is this claim? Scream!! (talk) 22:50, 5 June 2013 (UTC)

Reciprocal of phi[edit]

Would it be considered an interesting mention in the article that the decimal sequence of the reciprocal of phi is exactly that of phi itself without the initial "1":
phi = 1.6180339887...
1/phi = .6180339887...— Unsigned, by: ‎108.1.68.178 / talk / contribs

Not really. That's a consequence of its definition (see here). By definition, 1 + (1/phi) = phi. Thus, 1/phi = phi - 1. - Grant (Talk) 05:38, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
