Another theory[edit]

Should [1] and [2]be added to the list? Anna Livia (talk) 12:42, 12 April 2021 (UTC)

Consequences[edit]

Copied from Saloon Bar discussion (before it disappears)

X (person, group, organisation, state of choice) - 'You do what we want or we will reveal (you had Y girlfriends etc, were involved in these dubious activities etc) during the election campaign. Result of revealing blackmail - slapped wrist equivalent (depending upon the prudishness etc of the electorate).
Result of assassination revealed - prompt, possibly disproportionate, response (possibly by third parties taking 'the moral high ground' aka 'better act now, or it will be us next time.' Anna Livia (talk) 15:51, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

Books[edit]

Was the Book Depository firm investigated - LHO brought a rifle/'a long gun' (I am fairly ignorant about types of gun) into work and was not questioned. He also set up a sniper's nest and nobody appeared to notice. Anna Livia (talk) 15:51, 2 August 2021 (UTC)

@Anna Livia LHO didn't just wander in carrying a rifle, he hid the Mannlicher-Carcano he used in a large paper bag, and told anyone who questioned him it contained curtain rods. The sniper's nest was set up behind a wall of boxes, with the rifle itself hidden among them; since the TSBD was filled with boxes, this was not hard to accomplish.
As for those sources you posted on Bush and Nixon, they don't exactly seem authoritative, especially the Bush one (which seems to just be a deleted Youtube video). I think it tracks back to a book by Russ Baker called Family of Secrets, which among other things posits that Bob Woodward was an intelligence agent. 'The official investigators' might well have taken the more hostile approach.
With the videos 'found while looking for other things.' Anna Livia (talk) 09:50, 18 October 2021 (UTC)
Regarding the TSBD specifically, Oswald's supervisor, Roy Truly, was questioned by the Warren Commission, as were a number of others, which you can see on the witness list (https://www.archives.gov/research/jfk/warren-commission-report/appendix5.html). Truly never saw Oswald carrying a rifle, but according to his testimony, two days previously, a Mr. Warren Caster showed him two rifles that he had purchased for hunting and brought into the building in a carton on his lunch break (https://www.history-matters.com/archive/jfk/wc/wcvols/wh7/html/WC_Vol7_0195a.htm). 86.154.177.175 (talk) 18:18, 19 October 2021 (UTC)
So an element of 'benefits of 20/20 hindsight' involved. Anna Livia (talk) 19:45, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

LHO misses scenario[edit]

What sort of conspiracies would have arisen if LHO had fired, but missed JFK/injured someone else? (There being many obvious reasons why.) Anna Livia (talk) 19:45, 30 October 2021 (UTC)

Cui bono?[edit]

So who would have benefited more from having JFK killed over some form of blackmail? (Multiple blackmailers would have been feasible.)

I read 'somewhere' that 'assassinating the President' was not a Federal crime at the time of JFK's death - is this so? If Oswald had survived which judicial authority would have taken on the case? Anna Livia (talk) 20:35, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

2023 Anniversary[edit]

Came across [3] - there are likely to be 'many more suggestions and reprints of old books and articles' over the next 2-3 months. Anna Livia (talk) 09:22, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
