2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Talk:Linnaean taxonomy

Category:Scientific classificiation or Category:classification systems? Linnaean taxonomy is the only member of both cats anyway. ThunderkatzHo! 15:39, 4 October 2007 (EDT)

It should be a classification system, although it is a bit out dated.-- I am the AlphaTimSand the Omega!. 15:40, 4 October 2007 (EDT)

Do we need either as a cat, just biology'd do for me. How many systems are there? Susantalk to me 22:38, 5 October 2007 (EDT)
I agree, "biology" is enough. Also, I am wondering what the value is of that monstrous section "Taxonomic ranks" - it should at least come last, so people can see there's more text to read before hitting it. Perhaps even very last as an "appendix"? ħumanUser talk:Human 22:23, 23 July 2008 (EDT)

Huw Answer[edit]

Capitalization is always used for most names of taxa used in scientific classification of living things, except for species-level taxa or below. Example: Homo sapiens sapiens.

Hope it helps. --71.8.59.31 22:30, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

Ah, thanks for trying ;) I meant the words kingdom, phyla, etc., not specific (hah!) ones. Although, I do think you are answering the question I really had, since my memory was vague. Thanks! ħumanUser talk:Human 22:38, 29 July 2008 (EDT)
