2025 RationalWiki 'Oregon Plan' Fundraiser

There is no RationalWiki without you. We are a small non-profit with no staff—we are hundreds of volunteers who document pseudoscience and crankery around the world every day. We will never allow ads because we must remain independent. We cannot rely on big donors with corresponding big agendas. We are not the largest website around, but we believe we play an important role in defending truth and objectivity.

Fighting pseudoscience isn't free.

Categorisation: Islamophobia/Islamic extremism and alt-lite?[edit]

It has been suggested that the categorisation and contents of this article should be shifted from Islamic extremism towards Islamophobia and alt-lite. Considering the a parent involvement of the Islamic Party of Britain, I the Islamophobic label is problematic. I also see issues with the alt-lite description, since that tends to be used as a way to position right wing extremists as a sort of more moderate alt-righters, which hardly fits a strain of thought that includes esoteric (Neo-)Nazism (and thus is not bashful about its extreme right credentials).

Maybe there are also grounds for exploring the commonalities and differences between the European New Right as defined in this article and the “intellectualistic” style of thought represented by Generation Identity and how both relate to the alt-right. A discussion of this can also be found on the talk page of the Tommy Robinson article (the section on the Islamophobic template) and similar issues were raised about the distinctions between (European) identitarianism and (US) white nationalism on the talk page of the latter (note that there’s currently a difference in the redirects of identitarian and identitarianism, reflecting this ongoing discussion of categorisation and distinction).
